What should be done...

Look I know many of you who have the map pass are mad but I think I have an idea. You guys need compensation and I think this should help. 343 should have a community poll to see what classic maps we would like remade the top 4 get created and map pass owners get this for free. Then being that its four maps the cost of this to others will be 1000 ms points so they can gain back their losses. Does that sound fair?

Also there is far too much divide in the community over various issues lets not let this be one of them. All of us need to take up arms for this contact twitters of 343 devs use social media spread the idea lets back each other to make these problems stop. And to help mend our community and not just this issue but others as well.

That doesn’t sound fair and just to let you know you should be bashing Microsoft.

They are the ones that made the maps free. Go to the Microsoft forum and complain there instead.

I don’t really think they have to do anything for compensation, unless they have actually decided to give up and let the Crimson Pack go free.

If that’s the case, then I think a code to let the LE users downland the various Pre-order armour and skins would be a fair deal.

That would be more than acceptable to me.

Although, honestly, at this point, even a simple public statement from MS along the lines of, "We acknowledge that mistakes were made. We acknowledge that you tried to support the game by purchasing the LE and/or War Games Map Pass, and we appreciate that support. We defaulted on the trust you placed in us by making that purchase. We know it isn’t about the money, but about the principle of how we treat our valued customers, and we sincerely apologize. It won’t happen again," followed by steps taken to ensure that it does not…

… would suffice for me. It’s that there hasn’t even been that much of an acknowledgement that really dismays and disappoints me.

I agree with you that fellow customers/gamers should try to support each other more. What’s bad for one customer is bad for all, because it opens the door for exploitative business practices. Unfortunately, all I see is even those who go out of their way to be courteous and civil in their justifiable complaints being called whiners, immature, and self-entitled. The “entitled” meme was actually started by publishers. You may recall a year or so back multiple publishers throwing the term around in defense of their business practices. Gamers have since latched on to it, and it’s very saddening and disappointing frankly.

There was a time when a company would call a customer who had a complaint a “valued customer.” Now we’re just “being entitled.” Sighs

It doesn’t really what they do to make it up to LE & Map Pass purchasers, the important thing is that they do something. Right now, the biggest supporters (from a financial perspective) feel like second-class citizens. This is not what you want as a company, as it hurts your brand and endangers the future of your franchise.

Please 343i and Microsoft, just make it look like you actually care.

I don’t feel like a second class citizen. I’ve bought every Halo game, in LE version when released.
That would put me in the “biggest supporter” category, and you aren’t speaking for me.

I don’t expect/need any compensation for a glitch. Self-entitlement is a disease on the gaming community.

If I pay for something, I AM entitled to it. I paid for a discount. I didn’t get one. People got something I paid for a discount on for free, and consequently, will get the remaining content for less than I paid. Not a subsequent sale, not a price drop later as value diminishes. They will pay less in the same time period I will pay more during. And they paid less the same day I paid more during.

See, this is what I’m talking about.

Publishers started throwing the “entitled” term around a year or so back when defending their shady business practices. I’ve been gaming for 28 years. Never before this gen - ever - were customers called “entitled” when complaining about something like this. EVER. This is a recent, disturbing emergent meme among customers. Gamers latched on to the meme, and are now actually convinced that it’s preferable to to defend these corporations in whom they have no vested interest, over their fellow consumers who these companies routinely treat like cattle today.

They have pulled off the greatest PR, psyop-esque, marketing win in industry history. They’ve actually got their paying customers convinced to give them money, while attacking their fellow customers who also give them money, when they feel shafted. It’s mind boggling in its efficacy so far. And is one of many reasons I will not be sticking with this beloved pastime of mine once the next gen begins.

They didn’t tell me that gamers were self-entitled whiners. I see it for myself DAILY.

“I don’t have my map pack at 12:01AM on 12/10/12. We should sue!”
“Someone got something free, via a glitch. I now deserve something free!”
“Can we have a class action lawsuit because this game isn’t a throwback like they proimised?”
“Remove Boltshot or I’m quitting!”
“Add ranks or I’m quitting!”
“I’m going to hold my breath until I turn blue unless you change the game to my exact specifications!”

This is not some psy-ops on me. This is the behavior I see daily.
I started gaming on the Atari 2600 and Pong back in the day.
My friends and I didn’t write to Nintendo threatening a lawsuit because Jessie Orosco was unfair in RBI baseball. No one threatened other people or demanded the company refund them over Bo Jackson in Tecmo Super Bowl being “OP”.

There is MOST CERTAINLY an air of self-entitlement to a group of vocal gamers. That is simply fact.

I’m not doing any of those things or acting in any of those ways, though. All I’m saying - quite politely and calmly I might add - is that I feel disgruntled and request some form of compensation. Even if only an apology.

We will just have to agree to disagree about the industry. That’s the last I’m going to say on the matter, because I was just told by an Xbox support rep, “If you’re that upset about it, why are you playing it?” Which is a good question… but I still can’t believe they’d essentially tell a paying customer to -Yoink-.

I’m done. Goodbye community.

First off I’m not complaining because I didn’t get the map pass. And I wasn’t bashing 343 and no one should be bashing anyone it was a mistake. But map pass owners should get something this idea works because its community oriented and it solves the problems for evreyone map pass owners get an extra map (as there would be 4) for innconvienance and longer wait. The rest of the community gets the chance to buy classic maps that many people said they would like to have and money is earned back by the company on what they lost. Also I know MS is respoonsible but 343 needs to understand that their community is unpleased by what has happened and that it would be nice (yes I used nice not obligated perhaps my threads title was misleading) if they did this for the fanbase and it would help them keep that fanbase.

I made this thread because I thought we as a community could come together and come up with ideas to solve this and other problems. Apparently elitism and bias is overwhelming on these forums.

Those who belive MS will do anything about this are sadly mistaken does anyone remember the Fable 2 CE fiasco? Perhaps Im wrong about map users paying for content that others got for free but it just seems illegitmate to me.
