What seeds?

What seeds of our future exactly were sown in his past? I completely forgot about that when H5 came out but just remembered that was the whole setup from H2A. I know they pretty much scrapped it but was that theme thrown out too or did I miss something?

I never understood that either.

I think it’s just referring to the events of Halo 1-3 and anything else before that having an effect on how the universe is now. Things would be pretty different if Chief hadn’t been around as long as he has.

I think it is referencing the ancient Human-Forerunner war. You know, because we are once again fighting the Forerunners by fighting Prometheans. Also, I believe that phrase originated from a H3 advertisement. It was also on the HCE remake case if I remember correctly.

do you have any link to recall this ?

Cortana+The Prometheans. He was a bro with Cortana, but now she wants a divorce so she’s gonna make sure Chiefy gets nothing from it.

It doesn’t mean anything anymore because Halo 5 absolutely dropped the ball on the narrative.

Didn’t miss a thing, infact picked up on what even I missed remembering. They probably just scrapped it like Jul dama. Real 343 move right there. Old bungie didn’t scrap any key element of story that I can remember.

Kind of a reminder about what happened in H1-4

I dunno man, it sounds an awful lot more like something that was dropped rather than a “remember what he did” kind of thing. To me at least. It seems to hint at some secret that was previously overlooked that Locke was meant to use as a clue to find Chief.

That’s fair tbh I just feel like because Chief is such an important character that the story has to revolve around what happens to him specifically

Because in Halo 5’s story about Cortana and the Created being the “true” reclaimers and the reclamation beginning by her actions, it’s probably best to have played CE-H4 to understand that humanity has always been seen as the reclaimers and blah blah blah it won’t make sense otherwise not like it does anyway no one likes the whole “Created are Reclaimers” idea
:frowning:

You know in the mission “Breaking” when Warden Dingus is talking about the events on Alpha Halo and the Reclaimer and Chief says “I know, I was there”, and Cortana chimes in “we were both there” as in “I was the Reclaimer, not you … I could also use Forerunner technology, not just humans, it was your arrogance that led you to believe you were all important, just like the Sangheili and the San Shyuum”.

Anyway, on the bright side, one of the original script ideas for CE was that Cortana was going to go mad with power from all the Forerunner knowledge on the Halo and turn evil and Chief was going to have to defeat her … and based on the legendary ending of Halo 5 and THIS NEW T-SHIRT DESIGN, it looks like we might get that after all.

I figured this always tied into how the Librarian was able to evolve Chief so easily in 4. The seeds being the Chief and him leading humanity on the path to the Mantle. Halo has picked up a more overarching story rather than the one and done stories of the older games. In time I assume this plot point will slot in somewhere

Although I dislike the “Created v. Creators” storyline, I can see how that could be a possilble tie-in for it. If so, however, H5 still completely forgot to address it at least in some form or another. But that can be included in the overall misstep in storytelling I think.

You know, I hope this comes up again too. That was a bomb drop in H4 that the Chief was made into even more of a human evolution. And although gameplay-wise I would have liked to see something different and experience what that would be like, it’s still a huge plotpoint that was made and seemingly done away with in H5…which to be fair isn’t the only thing that suffered that fate so…
