What’s your best/fav Achievement in Reach?

Mines was most likely A Monument to All Your Sins, and Crackin’ Skulls cause it was a delirious match when I got it. Good times

“If they came to hear me beg” is a fun one to get,
“A Monument to All Your Sins” is just one that makes you feel good.
For Matchmaking “Totally Worth It” Earn a Double Kill from the Grave in multiplayer Matchmaking.

[If they came to hear me beg]! Though it should’ve required a 360 in the air as well, even cooler. xD

Not an ‘achievement’ per se, but beating/completing the Waterfront map in firefight on Legendary solo.

with the sniper jackel turned on (you probably already know but you can turn hazards off) man waterfront was one of the maps I did worst on good job!

You know, I always wondered what the hazards on/off did. And as you’ve surmised, the jackal was on. When I say complete, I mean finishing one set starting with ten lives, and no adjustments to armor or damage or whatever. Just as it plays the first time you but the game in the console.

wow, I can barely survive a full round of legendary on solo with any map.
Hazards are tanks, sniper jackals, or other dangerous things that can be map specific.

I’m not a great Halo player. I’m probably in the bottom quartile of people who use this site. But what I found is that if you are patient, there is a spot on every map which either has some inherent degree of safety or can be made to offer a degree of safety so the convenant enemies’ access to you is controlled. Perhaps this isn’t what a friend of mine would call “Gentleman’s Firefight” since it is not in the spirit of a full on firefight – but it is how I got through all the maps.

Here’s my rank of the maps from easiest to hardest:

Map / Fewest Deaths / Approximate Time (in minutes) - *Outpost / 0 / 75 - Courtyard / 0 / 35 - Holdout / 1 / 50 - Beachhead / 3 / 70 - Glacier / 5 / 90 (This might be easier than Beachhead – I just don’t play it that much) - Overlook / 5 / 65 (Another one I don’t play very much) - Corvette / 6 / 45 - Unearthed / 6 / 80 - Installation 04 / 7 / 80 - Waterfront / 10 / 75 – Also completed with the Mythic skull turned on.

I’d be happy to do little write-ups on each of these maps if you’re interested (separate thread or PMs). One thing that always puzzled me is that I never found an online guide for firefight tactics. There are of course tons of walk-throughs on how to finish the campaign on Legendary – but nothing about firefight.

For me, Firefight was always about survival. If camping somewhere is the best strategy, that’s what you should do. If you can afford to fo ‘full on firefight’, you should be increasing the difficulty.

So anyway, you played 1 set of Firefight Solo on Legendary, on some maps without deaths? That’s pretty good, I could never do that. What’s the exact gametype used?

I would refer to the game type as ‘Vanilla’. Imagine you first load the game on your console and go to Firefight, pick a map and start. So under ‘Game Type’, Firefight is selected as opposed to ‘Firefight Classic’ etc. No adjustments to armor, shields, damage or anything else.

EDIT: On Outpost, do you camp in the Active Gun with the DMR? If you just stay there except for grabbing ammo, you can finish in about 90 minutes. So you only have to kill about 4 enemies a minute. It’s basically a turkey shoot with the DMR with only grunts, jackals, skirmishers and the jetpacking elites (don’t know what they’re called) entering the Active Gun.

Doing write-ups would be very cool, you could always start your own “how to” videos, that would also be really cool.

That’s the one with limited lives, but without skulls, right?
I always played home-made variants of Firefight Classic. Disliked the dropships and the ‘Hazards’ (4 Ultras is just insane, no clue how you do survived that solo on Legendary), experimented with some more/other skulls, some different squads.
