I’ve always loved Chief as a character but past Infinite is there really much more they could do with him? I think I’d like to have a new protagonist to the games introduced. I think they could do another spartan along the lines of Gabriel Thorne. Who would you guys like as a new protagonist if you had to choose?
I think it’d be interesting if there was no main character in the same vein of the Chief in the event he doesn’t return. For instance, one game could be based around a character like Locke, then another through the Arbiter’s point of view. The halo series has a wealth of characters to use, so I don’t see a need to tie it down to just one main character when the Chief isn’t around.
Moved this to Universe as it’s kinda out of scope for the Infinite forums
Kinda hoping Thorne makes a return in someway, he felt like the replacement they were talking about in Halo 4.
My hope is that after Master Chief’s story concludes, the main series of numbered games ends, and the franchise continues through the other characters’ stories (the way Noble 6 and the Rookie had their own stories without being presented as replacements for Master Chief).
They’re their own leads of their own games, and weren’t presented as replacements for Master Chief. Consequently the fans have embraced them. In contrast, Locke was largely rejected because of the advertising presenting him as the newer, cooler hero, and the fact that he got more time as the protagonist of Halo 5 than the Chief. I don’t think anyone wants to see someone replace Master Chief, but we’d like to see more protagonists with their own stories (Reach handled this perfectly).

Thorne was actually supposed to be in H5. I believe he was replaced by Locke (it might have been Buck, but my memory is fuzzy on that subject). The point is, I would also like to see Thorne make a return to the lore in some way. I don’t think it would happen within a game, but he’s worth a comic book series at least. Either that, or include a story about him in a collection of short stories like Evolutions or Fractures.

He was replaced by Buck. The sad part is even Halsey noted that Thorne shows qualities of a Spartan compared to others. I would like a story book about him.

To be fair, he was heavily featured in Spartan Ops and Halo Escalations. I definitely want more info on the guy, but a book unto itself might be pushing it. Which is why I like the idea of a short story in something similar to “Fractures”. Give him and Fireteam Majestic a 50 page novella and I would be content.

The man is now the leader of Fireteam Majestic, I’m sure during the events that are going on with the Created, his entire team is needed. This would also be a good opportunity to show his skills and leadership now as the new Fireteam leader.
I want to see the next Halo video games where Arbiter and ODST Troopers are the main characters. There is a lot of stories they can tell in the Halo spin off video games. I really want to see a new Halo ODST video game.
Chief ought to have a nice retirement like Geralt does in his final DLC. They can then do a survival horror or roguelike as UNSC Marines.
