Although it’s been revealed that the Banished are in control of Installation 07, I think it’s possible that we might get to see its monitor in some capacity (even if it’s just a cutscene of Escharum crushing it with his bare hands). Assuming we do get to see it alive, what role should it play? We could see another friendly and helpful one, like 031 Exuberant Witness from Halo 5. Having lost its installation to the Banished, it requires Chief’s help to take it back in exchange for… I’m honestly not sure. Maybe it’s just pro bono on the UNSC’s behalf. Another idea I have is that it could be corrupted and working for the Created. This one’s a little more unlikely, but I feel like anything’s possible. Cortana’s offer is probably tempting to any ancilla, even those built by the Forerunners. Finally, the only other scenario I can come up with is of the monitor being a deceitful villain (albeit a minor one, since we’re already dealing with at least two enemy factions), like 343 Guilty Spark. What do y’all think?
Considering it’s Zeta Halo we’re on, I think it’d be cool of the monitor was a fragment of Mendicant Bias that isn’t aware that it’s a fragment. That alone would open up a huge number of story possibilities, especially since Cortana’s actions are almost mirroring those of Mendicant Bias late into the Forerunner-Flood War. Bias, too, went rampant and took control of a bunch of doomsday weapons (for him it was the original 12 Halos), holding the galaxy at gunpoint while the Flood built up in power.
