What Reach Needs

Let’s face it, Halo Reach wasn’t exactly the crowning jewel we had all hoped it to be. There are lots of ways we could make it better and let players enjoy themselves.

A huge stopgap for players is motivation. In Halo 3 you had temporary rank and the 50 point system. You would try to get higher in rank by playing better every time (otherwise you would decrease in rank). Compare this to Halo Reach and rank is pointless. All it really shows is how long you’ve played (Because in Halo 3 it actually meant something to kill a General). Now the only reason to play Halo Reach is so you can get new armor (it’s true for most players, don’t argue) and nobody really plays the arena anyhow. This 50 point system allowed you to play with players that were at your level and often scared off the “youngens” into less major gametypes in social slayer. Credits are cool but they really ought to be a secondary thing in Halo that DOES NOT affect your rank.

Although armor abilities and and reticule bloom are what a lot of people complain about it’s not the problem. Armor abilities are just permanent equipment and reticule bloom was in Halo 3 anyway (it just was visible and wasn’t as major). Although a real problem was the maps that we currently have. Most of all the maps are either huge open maps that take 10 minutes to walk across or really small maps inside that take about a minute to 2 minutes to cross. That and the maps have the wrong kind of feel to it. This is an extremely major problem, although it doesn’t seem like it-it is. With half of the maps we play on forge world the feeling is lacking in variety. Although some players try to make it feel different (and some succeed) it really ruins a lot of the gameplay. Nobody wants to play BTB on a map that feels the same as the last.

The last thing I’m going to point out is the missing double exp weekends. Obviously they’d be double credit weekends in Reach. But what these did was give players something to look forward to: An extremely fun gametype at the end of the week that gives you twice as much in the end. How many of us miss living dead in Halo 3?

So anyway:

  1. 50 point system
  2. Decrease use of credits
  3. Better variety of maps
  4. Something to look forward to other than grab bag and our next rank.

More map variety would be nice too, something like:

*Arctic Area

*Desert Area

*Forest Area

*Jungle Area

*Mountain Area

*Really Big Flat Area

*Tundra Area

Hey, I play arena!

Then your one of the more cooler people on reach :stuck_out_tongue:
