The Halo games have some different ranking systems, and everyone has a favorite system. For Infinite, what do you hope is the ranking system they use?
If you’re talking about ranked games, I think Halo 5’s system is pretty good. Maybe have an emblem or exclusive armor piece for hitting higher ranks. The main progression definitely shouldn’t be tied to this though cause otherwise mediocre-at-best players like myself will never unlock anything.
Call me nostalgic, but I miss the H3 ranking system. The realistic rank structure kept me motivated to keep playing for some reason.
I would like a return to the 1-50 ranking system, and maybe an expansion say a 1-100 ranking system. I don’t think there is any major criteria for success, as long as there is a solid ranking system alongside the exp progression system. Also, on that note I would prefer an exp progression like Halo 3’s where it shows games played and one exp for each game won.
Something with military ranks at least, much more interesting to see when ranking up than just plain uninspired numbers.
Honorary titles at end are also fine.
There’s no need to level up every few matches so less ranks with meaning to them are fine, though shouldn’t be too grindy either so the max rank can be enjoyed while still not getting tired of multiplayer, max rank should be accomplishment but not an end goal for multiplayer, reasonable is the key word while various challenges should offer more playtime.
There should be something XP & skill based when ranking, separate or combined, doesn’t matter to me that much either way as long as both aspects are included.
Only thing that should be unlockable are armor sets with some of them possibly being tied to ranks while others are unlocked through challenges & deeds in various gamemodes instead of just multiplayer, emblems/colors & other minor customization aspects should be unlocked by default.
I would be fine with credit system too as long as the prices of different armor pieces would be evened out though I prefer the above.
K/D should be calculated in deathmatch modes which would give boost to acquired XP with assists getting their share too, whereas objective modes would reward more for objective scores whether it’s scoring/offensive/ defensive etc score over what is gained by plain kills.
In such amounts that it encourages to pursue the goal of the gamemode.
There shouldn’t be purchaseable boosters to anything, slotmachine type thing would be fine enough bonus.
Reach Ranks with 1-50 on playlists
The new MCC ranks is close to what I like but I still like having a named rank. Not just an emblem and color.
I’d like something along the lines of Reach’s ranking system mixed with 5’s, from 1 to some number(preferrably one that’d be a form of reference, like 117 or smth). Having a relatively large number of ranks to burn through and the occasional reward for reaching a certain rank would be nice, like an emblem or exclusive piece of armor as mentioned before by others. Having the sense of titles to go along with the numbered rank like Reach did it(Warrant Petty Officer, Legend, Mythic, etc.) also would just spice up the rank instead of it just being numbers, giving the ranks a little bit of spice to their design with their own icons.

I like soo much the ranking system of Halo MCC and armory system ulocker of Reach MCC
We need the 1-50 ranks like H3. We also need an emblem next to our GT to show how much we played each playlist like in H3. Unlike in MCC it shows the same emblem for all playlists. I’d rather specific emblems for each playlist.
I remember the good ol H3 days going in on my Lone Wolf 50 with a 5 star general emblem next to it and I loved it. Made me want to keep grinding each playlist to have that emblem.
We need a reward for grinding, and I just dont feel that in H5.
We need a 3 part ranking system.

XP Grind - I think I prefer the military ranks (eg. General) over the 1-152 of Halo 5.

Skill Rank- not that fussed if the old 1-50 vs the current bronze to onyx. Just as long as it refreshes periodically (ie. seasons) - please do not go back to the dark ages.

Quit Rating - the % of games completed without being a -yoink-ing quitter. This should be displayed loud and ‘proud’ for the world to see.

A mix between Halo 3 and Reach, with more meaningful XP progression but Skill milestones to break through barriers.
I want an xp progression system much like Reach. I just don’t want it to be too grindy. Halo 5 has an insane grind and it seems that MCC’s new system is even more grindy. I like a challenge but I don’t want it to feel like a chore or job.

My favorite was Halo 3 where you could either rank up by winning ranked matches with your highest score achieved or by simply winning social or ranked matches. This allowed for players who were actually good to earn their rank faster. This combined with Reach customization would be preferred. I very much disliked the Halo 4 and 5 ranking systems. Reach was OK but was just as linear as the others.

We are talking about ranking system here, so you are wrong that you have more ranked game play than me. I also have the highest rank in all of the Halos. Coming from a competitive player 1-50 is better.

50 in MCC H4
Multiple Champions in H5
Classic is the way to go. Halo fans that started from 1 will agree H2 and H3 are the best Halos. New Halo fans starting in H4 and H5 believe H5 is the best. The core Halo fans and the community as a whole would love for classic to come back. “We” as a community would love it.
