Warzone, Warzone Assault, and Warzone Firefight are no doubt 343i biggest investment in Halo 5. From the requisitions and different variations of the weapons and all the huge maps associated that pushed Halo 5 and the Xbox one to the limit (Sometimes the console did bristle in some cases). We’re are approaching the end of year one of the games life cycle and as more maps and weapons are added to the meta. No doubt that is has to be said that despite my candor and enjoyment for the gametype, there are somethings that inhibit it from better gameplay and long term enjoyably for many players including me.
Whether by design or unintentional oversights, I have identified some negative characteristics in my experience that need to be addressed for proper feedback and appropriate changes for the future.
The Req system encourages selfish gameplay and is structured to promote Warzone farming and spawn killing. - Some reqs are less effective despite being higher level and more powerful ones are either too strong or obtained way too early. - Bullet Sponge A.I. enemies with uncanny skills with mechanics that regular players cannot do. - Massive Snowball effect for one team that gets momentum that allows them to get higher level reqs much faster similar to the older system of Killstreaks from Halo 4 and the early Call of Dutys. - Parties pub-stomping on regulars without big party restrictions or more specific search preferences partially motives by the Spartan Company Push to get the only Unlockable Armor in the Game (Achillies). - **With WZa, Spawns for Attackers in some maps are too predictable and some maps are poorly designed for either team to attack or defend bases.**These reasons are what keeps the career and concept of Warzone from advancing to a more optimal gaming experience for players of all kinds. No doubt that Halo 6 and future halos will continue to have some kind of massive scale multiplayer mode based on the success of the playlist and gamemode. Do you agree with these reasons? Is there something I didn’t list that you would like to add?
When I wrote this post I was about to go to bed so I will respond later if you ask me to elaborate on the reasons I gave.
Im ok with how warzone works. Spawns maybe needs abit of change. Id rather they focus on fixing bugs. Had 2 incidence today. One was both teams on warzone couldnt selecf their reqs and were stuck with pistols and ARs. The other was during WZA where i had my vehicle spawm glitch and was on a 50 second vehicle respawn timer

Make sure to use that wheel man ability, watch your gunner’s shields, and don’t down drive through a swarm of enemies.
I think warzone req levelling needs to be balanced.
1st idea I had was req levels would whole be earn over time equally but 1 extra req level would be given to the losing team but as soon as they start winning the other team gets the extra req level.
2nd idea we all start off on req level 5 it goes up based on how much you are losing and down by how much you are winning. Essentially a winning team would rely on pick ups from falling enemies. This one sound like too much chaos but then it is warzone.
I hate side of the map AI. Soldiers in random spots sniping you with light rifles and hydras. Wraiths and ghosts that will hit banshees with insane accuracy. The fact that AI vehicles can’t be boarded or hijacked. Bullet sponge mantises on Noctus. Banshee raiders. Basically any non-big point AI bosses.

I use wheelman probably more than any other armor mod lol
The fact that when I spawn an Answer; the other team have the audacity to shoot at me and don’t stand still so I get free multikills, I mean the nerve of some people!!!
Seriously though I find Warzone very enjoyable the majority of the time. The REQ “retrieving data” bug seems far less common now as well and the maps are great.
Spawns could do with some tweaking though, spawning close enough to Mythic bosses so you can shine their shoes is rather frustrating.
Spawns probably need to be worked on a definitely a better still matching system and some work on the current requisition matching system where people of equal wreck should match and of course far any solution to the ongoing problem of farming as of right now I’ve been playing more words in a salt because it seems to me there’s less farming in this playlist I’ve been playing a lot lately and I have it really noticed one game.
What i dont like about Warzone is that if you kill one of the boss you get 100 or 200 points. You can take all it’s life down but if someone from the other team gets that last lucky shot they get the points. Id rather they just take it off or lessen it but that’s just me.

Ooh! I have an idea, when your gunner is dead, drive off a cliff!
Join in progress. I’d be okay with a game every now and then… but it definitely seems like about 2/3 of my games are trying to clean up someone else’s mess.
I would say it is the ability to earn your REQ points through the match.
How can the game be balanced when you can only get 2 REQ points, for the AR and Magnum, where as someone on the opposing team has killed a boss and gets 3 REQ points and kills you with ease with the BR.
Everyone should have access to the same REQ points, at the same time. The game cannot be balanced when a team have BRs and you and your squad have ARs.
Most of what Warzone does is done in a lazy and frustrating way, IMO. First and foremost though, REQs are horrible. They create selfish play, they go against the idea of map control, and they severely limit what the devs can do with the maps. When the devs have to account for every possibility that REQs offer, they are limited in what they can do to make a map stand out. They have to create areas that account for every vehicle, and every weapon, and every armor mod. Instead of creating a focused area that has a clear set of goals, mechanics, and layouts they have to account for everything.
Moving forward into Halo 6 there are a could things that I would like to see. First, I would like to see REQs removed, or at least massively scaled back. The microtransaction system should never include gameplay altering items and abilities. The REQ system can stay, but it should only give out armor, and skins. As long as 343i make skins and armor that people want it could work. Similar to other MT systems that only offer cosmetics like Overwatch and Destiny. Secondly, more varied map design. By taking away REQs, and eliminating the limiting aspects of that system they can finely tune the maps and encounters to make an overall better experience. Lastly, give more varied objectives. Instead of having to kill bosses every time, create maps or variations that have you capturing a flag, or delivering a bomb to the enemy base, or killing a VIP on the enemy team, or wiping the entire enemy team. Those are just some examples off the top of my head. They could turn Warzone on it’s head as well. Turn it into a very broad gametype kind of similar to Destiny’s Raids. Have some maps that are “classic” Warzone maps, but then some that act more like Invasion from Reach, or one that relies completely on killing enemy AI. I see one where two teams spawn on the opposite sides of a long map, and have to fight through enemy AI and capture bases with the goal of being the first team to kill the massive AI in the center of the map. Something cool like a Scarab. It would be a race with very little interaction between players.
The points for the big bosses ruin it more than help it. I saw complaints about the 150pt bosses. What did 343 do? They made 200 pt bosses. I think no boss should be more than 75pts and they should not be the bullet sponges they are currently, but that is just me.

Well thats what happens when half the matches are total blowouts due to poor matchmaking. Its not as much of a Company farming thing as it is balanced matchmaking. I have been in a fair number of matches where the opposing team had 6 Onyx players vs 2 random onyx players with me being a platinum and us 3 randoms being the highest on the team. Yes complete blowouts. Yes spawn killed. but my point is it is absolutely terrible unbalanced matchmaking. I’ve seen similar things happen in arena as well.
