What ppl needs to understand is....

Those are my thoughts on Halo 4. Consider that i am a die-hard Halo fan. (and sorry for my grammar, i am not english)

Microsoft wants to make money like everybody else. And while some years ago Halo might have been the “go for” fps on xbox, time has changed. Now are times of military and so-called realistic shooters like BF and CoD. Those games offer a simple and fast gameplay, tons of stuff to unlock, gameplay affecting abilities and upgrades, tons of customization and lots of digital content. Those things are todays trends wich sell the game.

Halo has been always very unique game offering a specific type of gameplay and has been at the cutting edge of the console FPS. Halo has broght a lot of inovative stuff, wich has been later asimilited in all the other modern shooters. But like i said, trends have changed and Halo also needs to move on.

Developer can never think of just one group of players. They need to make game wich will sell. They need to implement things that majority of players like. Reach has kinda starded it (loadouts, armor abilities) but ended up with making some wrong decisions and unbalanced game elements. Reach is a great game, but it could have benn much better.

Now we have new studio, ppl wich have to move forward and bring a game, wich will please majority of players and the core players too ofc. 343i can learn a lot from reach and they already showed it by making some decisions like bringiong back the BR and deleting the Armor Lock.

And they have also implemented a lot of things from todays trends. Gameplay affecting upgrades, skins, digital content. They also implemented sprint like always available ability. They are moving forward. They evolving Halo. You just have to accept it.

But. They also making sure that Halo ids still Halo. They trying to keep the core gameplay and inplement the new things in a way, that they wont break the game. They very much know, that Halo is just one huge succesfull and remarkable franchise and they want to keep it that way. But Halo needs to evolve.

Skins ? Why not ? I will love to make my own unique spartan. Dont like it ? Then just meake a blue one without all the fancy stuff. Sprint ? Most of the ppl just want the sprint becouse its a standart in those days. It needs to feal atleast as fast as the other modern shooters. Upgrades ? I believe that those are gonna be just minor stuff wich actually wont affect the game so much and yet offer a player to adapt the game to his own playstyle. Its all about balancing the abilities, upgrades, weapons…and if they manege to make it work, Halo 4 may be the return of the king. Spartan Ops ? Yes the name sucks but otherwise i think it is exactly what Halo was missing all the time. Coop missions with story ? Hell yeah, bring it on. Who cares that something like that was in other games before. Halo was not the first game to use guns.

Ppl needs to consider everything what is 343 doing for the franchise. Forerunner trilogy, post covenant war trilogy and the game it self, its gonna be all connected and i feel, that the story and campaign is gonna be mindblowing. And what about Forward Unto Down live action ? Isnt that what we wanted all the time ? Didnt we want live action wich will not be dumbed down by hollywood filmakers, but will please all the core Halo players ? Oh and what about the Halo 4 graphics ? Looks like Halo 4 will be not only the best looking Halo game, but quite possibly one of the best looking games on consoles.

Ppl. Just have faith. They now what they have in hands. Believe.

And for you 343…BRING IT ON !

Sadly a lot of people have to understand this

Good say man, good say.

You cannot beat COD at being COD.

It’s impossible.

> You cannot beat COD at being COD.
>
> It’s impossible.

You cant, you are absolutelly right. But you can beat it by being Halo and implementig new things that ppl like. Halo will never sell more then BF or CoD, those are multiplatform games. But it can still sell great and bring more ppl to the franchise. And CoD cant go on like this forever. Its population and sales are already dropping.

The problem is all these “new” things they’re implementing are straight out of COD.

You know why COD overtook halo in the first place? It was the only game that didn’t just say hey halo is #1, so everything in it is exactly what people like and we must do it too. They went out and thought up their own actual new ideas.

Being multi plat has nothing to do with COD outselling halo on just 360.

The thing you have to realize is that COD and BF fans are entirely different people from Halo fans. They simply are not interested in Halo and probably never will be. The majority of COD fans are casual gamers, people that don’t go on forums and game developer websites to see what’s in their game. They are just having fun and playing the game and they pick COD because it’s easy you can get right into a game and play that’s why people that aren’t very good at video games start playing COD. The only way Halo can stay alive is if it tends to its majority of fans which is COMPETITVE gamers.

I don’t know if u guys have noticed but when COD was adding more things to tend to casual gamers there was a lot of ticked off people but it did even better than the previous game because the casual gamers don’t go on websites and complain about the game. When Bungie tried doing that with Halo, tending more to the casual gamers in Halo Reach it failed. Now when I say casual I mean really casual like people that can care less if one small thing changed in their game and people who never go online to check on the new things in their game.

If I wanted to buy call of duty I would have, Halo is good because it leaves everything balanced (armor lock excluded) but that was just one thing call of duty has many things unbalanced (mp7, head glitching, rapid fire controllers ect.) if they start copying call of duty they will just become a clone its not innovative to copy others work its cheap. No matter what changes they make to Halo 4 someones gonna hate it might as well not hate it for being a COD game that every 10 year old wants to shout at.

There are a lot of things that Combat Evolved came up with, and all other games “copied” them. And those were much more important things. I believe that HCE among other things first brought rechargable shield and carying only 2 weapons. And its not like Halo hasnt evolved. Halo 2 brought dual wielding, Halo 3 brought equipment an forge, reach armor abilities. On the other side, CoD pretty much hastn changed from CoD 4. So i think its just evolution that Halo has to move forvard and accept some things wich are standards, like other games did when HCE come out.

Halo 4 can appeal to BOTH casual and competitve.

This ‘line drawn in the sand’ w/in the community between ‘competitve’ and ‘old school’ and ‘fanboy’ and all of this BS is plain ignorant.

Everything the OP said is true. Excellent post. Halo can follow market trends and STILL BE COMPETITIVE

Halo 4 can be ALL OF THIS. The game is GOING TO BE ALL OF THIS. I’m pretty sure 99.9% will be quite pleased w/the final product.

What i was trying to say is, that i believe it is possible to make Halo more accesible, or more atractive to other players, and yet remain true to the core Halo players. Dont make mistake. I dont like CoD and i dont want Halo to become CoD. I just accept that game will move forward, it will implement some major changes, but i believe when i play it, it will still be Halo.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I agree on all of your points, and I think the so-called competitive players need to stop trolling and keep an open mind about this game.

i don’t care about any of this- i mean i understand it, but if there isn’t substantial support for classic playlists on day one then i won’t be playing. unless of course, by some miracle they actually balance all the ridiculous stuff they have put in. that would be quite something.

I believe that Frankie said (or wrote) somewhere, that right from the beginning there is gonna be a classic playlist. Dont ask for the source thoug. I think it was one of the interviews around Spring Showcase.

yeah, i know there will be a classic playlist. i’m saying i want more than one (“substantial support”). one for doubles, one for TS, one for FFA and one for objective. one playlist isn’t enough, since if it were just one doubles or ffa wouldn’t be possible. and i’d have to try and i get lucky if i didn’t feel like slayer, or vice versa.

Yes HCE did come out with a lot of new stuff. That’s why it was so successful. It didn’t just say hey let’s just copy everything from counterstrike or quake.

H4 though is just looking at the #1 game(COD) and taking stuff right out of it.

Thing like dual wielding and abilities are far from unique to halo.

OP is my god

This times a thousand

I personally like the things i’m seeing, and some things i didn’t like in that leak video some thing that had to be changed in Reach. But for the most part i’mcexcited but still worried at the same time.
