Why does FFA need player outlines AT ALL? Your telling me to spend $20 on a single set of armor and there is no Playlist where you can view your Spartan customization in game without a glaring red outline ruining the aesthictics. At least in Team Slayer (although Red VS Blue is miles superior) the player outlines have a purpose of separating your squad mates from the enemy team.
In FFA, the Player Outlines are ugly and serve no purpose. PLEASE remove them!
This game was made for new players and low skill players. The game esstionally has training wheels. There is no other reason other than to make it easier
I’m curious as to what makes those two different. If its low visibility I can understand ODST because of the highlight overlay, but I’m not aware of anything similar in Reach.
He can play the reach campaign with night vision on.
He says odst was better but the above and below info on the motion tracker makes it playable for him.
Infinite is his first mp halo, outside of firefight in odst, he’s really enjoying it so I guess for that reason I’m happy outlines are on in ffa.
It’s for visibility. As graphic details and lighting improves, it becomes harder to see characters. Reach was still pretty simple, it wasn’t overly detailed and had a pretty bright color palette to make players pop out more.
In Halo 5 they made everyone have horrible, cheap plastic looking colorschemes that made you look like an action figure instead of a soldier to make characters stand out from the background. And not an expensive action figure, the Power Troopers or Avenging Squad brand China-knockoffs. Now they have outlines to make enemies visible, but let you keep your color(because how would they sell you colors if you can’t see them?)
They chose to wear that armor. That’s how they wanted to express themselves. You may not like their look, but it was theirs regardless. In Infinite people have less freedom over how their Spartan appears.
Also, over time you’ll undoubtedly get people with silly looking armor anyways. They will just also have an outline over it.
The entire purpose of them was so they could implement custom armor cores in team games (and thus justify more microtransactions). If there weren’t an outline + colored shields in team games you would only have reticle color and nametag to go by.
In FFA, any player you see, at all, is an enemy. There is no need to differentiate anything. You see someone, you shoot. They can do away with outlines and also give everyone their canonical golden shield color.
It is different though, for precisely the reasons I mentioned. The example you have was someone’s chosen look. The outlines are not, hence it is not the same.
I was going to chime in and say the same. With the graphic and lighting fidelity it’s actually a lot harder to notice players in brown, steel or olive green armor due to the refined quality infinite has over games like halo 3 and reach
