Working on a project and I couldn’t find any articles that confirm which modes support cross-play.
To my knowledge, campaign and co-operative modes do and unranked playlists do too.
Do ranked playlists now support cross-play or is this still limited to unranked?
Thanks for any replies, appreciated.
From my understanding, every format supports crossplay, ranked or otherwise. I remember reading something about how pc gamers have a very slight, barely noticeable advantage, so the devs decided to just lump everyone together.

Which was a big mistake. An advantage is still an advantage. The reason the statistics are close is because not evenone knows how to use a keyboard while the skill of learning a controller is quite easy to learn. PC has the greatest micro advantage. However, i think it was necessary as the player base is not strong enough for it to be split.
Interesting, so ranked matches are thrown in the mix now too.
Thank you for the replies. It would be interesting if 343 Industries could provide some statistics similar to how The Coalition did regarding cross-play matches. In their tests, Windows 10 and Xbox players had comparable stats but it would be great to see some information regarding Halo Wars 2 given it is an RTS.

If it’s necessary because the playerbase is small, then you can’t call it a mistake; the other option was let HW2 PC effectively die. As such it isn’t a mistake so much as a least terrible option.

I don’t remember where, but 343/CA did a lot of research on the differences before implementing full crossplay. The difference between the two platforms is basically non-existent except at the highest levels of pay. Also most of the best HW2 players play on console or use a controller on their pc.
