What percentile am I?

I’m a platinum level player. I am curious what this means in terms of what percentile I am in comparison to everyone else. Like, does platinum 4 mean I am in the 50th percentile or so?

Also how many people are being ranked? For example, are there 100,000 players better than me and 100,000 worse than me? Where do I stand? Is there a place where we can see these metrics?

I’d love to know some numbers around this. Am I below average, above average, or what. Any guidance you guys can offer is much appreciated.

Also I noticed that my rank goes down randomly. Is that because I’m losing more or because I haven’t played that playlist enough? I got up to diamond briefly, in Elimination. But then my rank dropped back down into platinum.

HaloTracks is usually pretty good for this sort of information. Not sure if it will have what you want specifically.

As for you rank going up and down in the ranked playlist. I believe it’s based on Wins & Performance in match in comparison to who you’re playing against.

It’ll go up more if you win against a team that’s ranked higher than you.
It’ll go up less if you best a team that is ranked lower than you.
It’ll go down more if you lose against a team lower ranked than you.
It’ll go down less if you lose against a team ranked much higher than you.

You can’t get kicked out of Ranks other than Champion (Top 200 players in that playlist).
The game calculates a number called CSR (Competitive Skill Rank). In the Onyx rank you can see your CSR. Everything below you’re just listed as a tier.

I believe that is correct, someone may come and fact check me soon. But from what I know that is how it works.

I just got kicked out of diamond back down to Platinum in the elimination playlist. I thought you said you can’t get kicked out of a rank

He’s incorrect.

Depends where in Platinum you are and which playlist, but it’s usually roughly a wide swatch of the middle. Like, top 30-70%.

Damn. So basically meaningless. The entire middle 50%.

This will give you a good idea, though it may not be totally accurate:

Also - in your profile under arena playlists, it’ll show you a further breakdown of where you are within your division.

Oh, I dunno about meaningless. Means you’re average.

Fascinating. Thank you. Is that breakdown for all time or just the spring season 2020?

No problem, I believe it’s just for the current season.

Based on these numbers, that would mean there are at least 500,000 people still playing ranked Halo 5. Does that seem right to you? I thought the population was very low. That seems very substantial.

If you checked out the newly posted FAQ - Zaedynfel posted the actual percentile breakdowns, which are significantly different than halotracker’s board, so I’m sure these pop #s are off too. (They still give you an ok rough idea of the rank distributions without the insider info).

The pop does seem too high but slayer’s the most popular playlist and nearly half of that is unranked, so they could’ve played one game. Also keep in mind it’s counting players over a whole season, which is a couple of months. My guess is it’s also counting some players who haven’t played this season due to some flaws in how their site / databases are set up.
