Load’s of people are waiting on this TU , granted not everyone is. People love the game now , people have left. Anyway 343i’s has admitted this mistake and told us a TU is coming later this month. Me and Alot of fans believe this game is unbalanced . When we suggest the TU should have been made earlier , granted it’s not a easy thing to do , we get hate comments regarding Halo 2 Post TU.
Yes Halo 2 was horribly broken before the TU, the majority agree it was horrible before the TU. But people also forget something else…
Halo 2 was in the early days of XBL! Back then TU’s werent done nowhere near as much as they are now. We wouldn’t have expected a TU quick back then . It was the early days. We’re in 2013 now and Halo 4’s war games for most of us is horribly broken. A TU should be done quicker then back in the days of Halo 2 . Companies have been expected to react faster with these sort of things. Expectations have gone up when it come’s to these things and fans expect a quicker reaction .
It’s a tough market today and things coming out like these so late are under par. Especially for a series such as Halo
I prefer they take their time like they did. Better to make sure everything works properly in the TU and take in more than just the gut reaction people have.
Treyarch apparently has put out a bunch of patches since launch, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are better. They listen to the very vocal minority at launch, change things and quite possibly break other things. Then people complain about something else being OP now that whatever they fixed before has been nerfed and so on and so on.
In the case of DMC, a recent patch for the PC version ended up breaking rumble functionality for those who use a gamepad (I’m guessing using a gamepad is easier for that type of game on PC). That patch came just over 2 weeks from the PC launch. Quick patches =/= better patches.
You also have to keep in mind that the TU we are getting at the end of the month is also the 3rd TU for the game. Fourth if you count the Crimson DLC fix, but that was the only thing it did. There was one on day 1 and another a month later. We don’t need to churn out title updates just because loud people complain on the internet. If they did that, they would risk breaking the game entirely (no it isn’t already broken. Adaptation works) and possibly making some guns completely useless.
I do agree that the DMR is a bit overpowered, but nothing a RoF decrease can’t fix. 343 has taken their time to ensure it has been done right and that the early complaints weren’t just people unwilling to adapt to a situation. Give them a break…it’s their first game after all.
Expectations. You all have a stupid expectation that things should be done quicker.
You get what you’re given, you’re lucky you’re getting it at all, deal with it. Just because we live in the future doesn’t mean it’s easier to do things, in fact it’s more complex which means it will take perhaps even longer.
People have some kind of strange thought that they run the company; being the fans and all, but they don’t and I hope they never do, the game would be a complete disaster as everyone has different opinions.
Trade-offs that arent necessarily good ones, H3’s mauler was crap, post-TU, the mauler was a beast.
You fix one problem only to make two more problems.
You cant fix thing that arent there to fix, if its not on the disc, its not on the disc. Meaning, if the code is written only tweaks can be implemented, you just cant remove something entirely because those lines of code affect other lines of code.
I am wondering this:
If they tone down the DMR in MP. What effects will it have to Spops?
I hope for two main fixes, Bullet magnetism needs to be dialed down. As does aim assist.
The boltshot if it cant removed then a 2x charge shot to kill and a buff to the regular firing, that gun is crap just shooting and way OP charged.
JIP needs a tweaking. Or the ability to turn it off.
But these are problems that the community has made very obvious since launch, we have great expectations to what is going to happen, I think we should set our standards low not to be disappointed.
im just hoping this TU is good otherwise im seriously done with this game, i cant bring myself to play it the way it currently stands…
if the TU doesnt make this game less nooby and they dont tone down the auto-aim and make the crosshairs a little smaller to create a skill gap or something, its safe to say this game will die…
im not trying to sound like a smart -Yoink- when i say that the competitive community has built this franchise into what it is today… but this game was designed for casuals with no skill gap… you see the competitive community dying, and the population going with it…
pro halo players are switching to black ops2…
the competitive community is moving to black ops2…
you can’t afford to wait any longer, you need to add a skill gap to your game and get rid of all this nooby crap that wasnt in any previous halos
> Halo 3 was craptastic before it’s update. Anybody remember the melee ties that happened after every melee battle?
One thing I miss about the Halo 3 melee before its update was the way people went absolutely FLYING. That was hysterical.
I was going to post about how this was the most level-headed discussion on the TU I had seen…no doom and gloom, threats to leave or arrogance…but that changed as I was typing sigh
The overall gaming landscape has changed, people aren’t as drawn to arena shooters anymore, regardless of how good they are. One title update cannot change that. Call of Duty is the new hotness, that’s just the way it is.
Eventually, people will get tired of the exact same game over and over and move on to something new entirely. If Call of Duty just keeps with the same formula and generally the same engine into the next gen, people are going to start to leave. It is entirely possible Halo 5 will demolish the competition on the neXtBox.
343 isn’t afraid to change, whether those changes are good or not is a 100% judgement call.
Join in progress needs to go completely or be fixed completely, a few games, i’m planted in the middle of a losing battle, then a match i’ve just had, my team mates, and I mean all of them left the game because oh my, the other team captured 1 flag! And not 1 other person entered the game on my team, I was left to fend for myself against 5 people, then 1 more player joined the other team right before they captured the final flag. Sometimes I wonder why I still bother to play this game.
I do wish Halo would go back to its roots, back when it was pure fun in the CE and Halo 2 days. ahh, I miss the good old days.
Edit: There’s 1 thing I absolutely love about halo 4 though, it’s watching 2 people run towards each other, then melee’ing each other, and both bodies fly across the map haha. That and alot of the other random things you see while playing. Always puts a smile back on my face

They already did a title update for the game. They fixed the BS from having an instant reload, and made it so players can’t walk through walls in that one building on Complex and a wall in Haven and ruin Oddball and Flood gametypes, as well as make it rather hard to kill enemy players spawning closer to them.
Say what you want about the weapon balance, but I think they had their priorities straight by stomping out what would no doubt be a game breaking glitch.
> Halo 3 was craptastic before it’s update. Anybody remember the melee ties that happened after every melee battle?
You mean on the rare occasion I actually entered melee range we would both die but one of us would fly clear across Valhalla?
That was hilarious and I’m sad they removed it.
I also found it funny how people would try to AR + Melee me all the time but I would just keep backing up so they never got into range and died from my AR or Magnum.
> The overall gaming landscape has changed, people aren’t as drawn to arena shooters anymore, regardless of how good they are.
Tribes is an infinitely more balanced and unique class based shooter than Halo 4 is.
Halo 4 doesn’t even make a good class based shooter, let alone an arena one.

Responses like this are disappointing. It’s like you have no idea how a consumerist society works, or what complaints are for.
If a product is sub-par, you demand a better product or you search for alternatives, you don’t just accept an overpriced product.

I’m not saying don’t provide feedback, but yelling at someone and telling them that it’s not good enough isn’t the way to go about it. If you don’t like it, tell them; don’t threaten them and tell them to hurry up.
If they don’t want to apply and take in that feedback then it’s their fault. So I stand by what I said, you’re lucky they ARE listening to feedback and spoilt complainers, much to my disgust, and they are doing something about it.
I agree that, as a player, it really feels like they’re taking their sweet time with the TU. I really would like to see them be more nimble. Some of the problems with the game could even have been hot-fixed through Forge and gametype settings. However, TUs are costly, and it makes sense for them to get as much right with one than to have to do multiple updates.
I think that if they’d given us specifics ahead of time about what they hoped to address in this TU and perhaps even solicited feedback from us in these forums (crazy idea, I know), we would be much more patient with them. Instead, we know a TU’s coming, but we have really no idea what to expect. We don’t know if they’re actually seeing the problems with this game or if they hope to tweak a few dials and hope that satisfies us.
If we knew what they were planning to change, if they included us and made us feel like part of the community and not an audience, I think it all would be much more tolerable on our end.
I think the most frustrating aspect is that, to many of us, the answers seem so clear and easy to implement that it’s hard to understand how those issues made it into the launch game let alone how they’re still in the game today. When you consider things like how imbalanced the DMR and boltshot are and how random and personal ordnance are affecting the outcomes of games without giving players any kind of depth in gameplay to explore and learn, it just seems bonkers.

Well we may expect more because we are now ‘living in the future’. I am still waiting for the hover board from Back to the Future…but it aint gonna -Yoink- -ing happen!

Me to lol great film ;D still though I ain’t asking for a miracle I just expect 343 to act faster, Halo is a multi billion dollar franchise and they are setting peoples attitude toward them with their first game.
Glad to actully see people pointing out other faults in previous titles becuase in the begining when the anger posts first appeared people were acting like Bungie released perfect titles out of the box and that there were no problems what so ever.
> I think the most frustrating aspect is that, to many of us, the answers seem so clear and easy to implement
For me it is Don’t JIP when the announcer has already said “Next kill wins!” but also, hold off on starting a new Oddball game 5v2 - wait or reshuffle the deck all the way back, since players are “network swapping” to avoid JIP.
I guess it’s because I have a degree in programming - I don’t know the specific coding commands, but the logic piece shouldn’t be hard at all.
> Glad to actully see people pointing out other faults in previous titles becuase in the begining when the anger posts first appeared people were acting like Bungie released perfect titles out of the box and that there were no problems what so ever.
I wish this were true of pretty much every post in this forum. Sadly, it’s not.
As for the TU, I hope they keep an even keel. Believe it or not I’m enjoying things the way are. This means I don’t keep running into the boltshot and crying about it.
