What not to do with "Halo 5" Multiplayer

This is not a post of negativity just for negativity sake this are IMO my constructive criticisms. Here are some things to consider to avoid another precipitous decline in online population like that was seen in Halo 4

Source

  • Do not try to be a Hybrid between Halo and COD, in an effort to attract the COD crowd, I don’t hate COD,and i can understand why some people like that sorta Class shooter. However Halo is an Arena Shooter. Halo 4 fail’s horribly at being CoD like and at being Halo like. Even down the the matchmaking “GUI” Keep the same interface that MP has had since Halo 2.

  • Get rid of perks, person ordinance, random weapon drops and all other sorta nonsense that removes fundamental balance from the game.

-Promothean vision might be the nicest sounding buzzword in Halo 4 but it’s a complete disaster.

  • Not all weapons need to be a power weapon.
  • online netcode is horrible Never encountered so much lag even in Halo 2 which was supposedly not well optimised. You must have lost some netcode Genius in transition.

There’s more but you get the gist.

Though I appreciate seeing posts saying “don’t do COD/Halo Hyrbid again”, there are plenty of other threads active right now to post that in. Mods will eventually start condensing threads together.

Here’s what I don’t want in Halo 5’s Multiplayer: Halo 3

Here’s what I also don’t want in Halo 5’s Multiplayer: Halo 4

I want something innovative. I want something different from what we’ve seen, yet also familiar. Halo doesn’t need to step backwards or into the shadows of other franchises to be successful, it needs to step forwards and bring the world an experience unlike the others.

I don’t want a classic experience, yet I don’t want an Infinity experience. I want something new, and something better than before. I want old rules to be broken, and I want new ones created. Halo 4 didn’t “fail” because it strayed away from the traditional experience, it failed because it copied it’s competitors and also brought no innovation.

In Halo 5, I don’t want to play Halo 3 again. I don’t want to suffer through Halo 4 again. I want to play Halo 5. And I will ENJOY Halo 5.

The problem, as I see it, is that “Halo 5” will be somewhere in the spectrum between Halo 3 multiplayer and Halo 4 multiplayer, no matter how much it innovates. The chances that it will open up a whole new style of MPFPS gameplay are slim at best, so it’s safe to assume that Halo 5 will be an evolution of an already existing type of FPS.

Saying you want something completely new doesn’t really help 343i, as they likely won’t be making something completely new. What we need to ask ourselves is in what direction would we rather Halo 5 evolve- the Halo 3 direction or the Halo 4 direction.

I hope for both, but my opinion mostly supports an evolution of Halo 3’s multiplayer.

You said what I wanted to say, which is a pleasant change seeing as we often seem to disagree. :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah I agree, I think asking for Halo 5 not to be at all like any previous Halo is like asking for an entirely new franchise.
We need a game which is consistent with the Halo franchise in more ways than just having Halo in the title, otherwise it becomes a little pointless.
Though I think Andycu probably wasn’t literally saying what the wording would suggest.

XD
No hard feelings, man.
