i wanna see what you guys think… Is it me, or does this game have some pretty damn good power weapons? Now, the only rules are that they have to be new to Halo and first seen in halo 4… an example being Railgun… SAw… ECt…
Lovin the Railgun… it just feels right, i always do well with it… and it just feels like a halo gun in design and canon to me aswell, so this is my list:
Railgun: a brilliant Anti-infantry weapon that serves well in small scale battles.
SAW: makes me feel like a tank… but an invincible one! >=D
Binary Rifle: I like this, the 1sk gets a lot of flak it doesnt need really, its got a ridiculous scoped out reticule (and rightly so) and it lets the enemy know when they’re about to be corn flakes. so its a sniper thats not just a 2sk, 1sk to the head like past ones, making it unique.
Leading shots (but not as great as in Halo PC), massive range (enough to span the length of a tower), charge up (can’t be spammed), zoom in (while charging up), with a sick look and design.
It’s a rare gem among Halo 4’s generic, easy to use, ridiculously overpowered and spammable, so-called “power weapons”.
Let’s list off the new power weapons to Halo 4.
Scattershot
Boltshot
Incineration Cannon
Binary Rifle
Railgun
Sticky Detonator
SAW
The Railgun has a skillgap at long range. Unfortunately, this is overshadowed by the fact it has immense magnetism and aim assist at close-medium range and takes little skill to utilize. If this was fixed it would make a fine competitive weapon.
The Incineration Cannon doesn’t offer any more skill over the rockets, except it’s more punishing if you miss. But good luck missing with that fast projectile travel time AND immense blast radius.
In my experience (along with others), the Sticky Detonator is inconsistent and low damaging, with only a few kills available. Not recommended.
The Binary Rifle is much easier to use than either alternative. Definite no.
The Boltshot has it’s own charging skillset, and is range limited. I’d say it makes a very good alternative to the shotgun for competitive settings.
The SAW is just an even more powerful automatic weapon, and in fact is almost too powerful in most settings. Gonna say no.
The Scattershot requires leading targets, but it is extremely inconsistent, and the wall-bouncing gimmick isn’t useful enough to justify it existing. Overall a poor weapon.

This post is very informative, and i’m totally not thanking it because of the… pretttttyyy colorrs… 0-0
The Railgun is my FAVORITE weapon in the Halo universe at the moment and it works will in 2v2 so I think it belongs in COMP. The Sticky Detonator is ok, but I REALLY want the Grenade Launcher from Reach to come back :/. The Inceniration Cannon could work of they limit the ammo capacity to 3 shots because its SO strong compared to the FuelRod and Rockets. Binary’s one-shot capability is not good for COMP because of the range it has and the Scattershot is to unpredictable sometimes so no for that as well. The Saw could work if the limit the ammo to one clip that things has way to much ammo capacity in my opinion and last but no least the BOLTSHOT…that gun just be erased form all future Halo titles

no way man… the reach grenade launcher ruined reach MLG
I never said the boltshot was a power weapon… the previous commentor was just being ridiculous…
I’d say Railgun or Sticky Det. All of the other new power weapons are either slightly OP or inconsistent. (Not that the Railgun and Sticky Det are the most consistent. I’ve hit people straight on with both and had them live.)

The only thing here I’m going to disagree with is what say of the scattershot. The wall bouncing is pretty unique trait that can be used to kill. I’ve gotten a few myself. I still would agree that it’s not a competitive weapon.
I love the SAW. Probably my favorite new weapon in Halo 4… it looks, sounds, and feels powerful. Good to have fully-automatic power weapon for once. I hope it stays all the way to Halo 6.
I also like the Sticky Detonator; it’s a neat little gun, very fun to blow people up with. I just wish it were in Spartan Ops…

Can’t agree more with this post. The Railgun, although built for anti-infantry purposes, works well against light armored vehicles, with the ability to immobilize them. Once I had a movie moment where I shot an oncoming Warthog, and it flipped right over me, and landed upside down, somehow killing the driver. I just couldn’t help but walk away feeling like a badass as I proceeded to be shredded by a Battle Rifle from the nearby cave.
