We all know that Halo 4 will have it’s own new music, but as 343 has stated, some of our favorite tunes will be returning. So, what is the number one track you want to hear return? Feel free to make a list if you can’t decide on one. Also, please don’t say the Halo theme, since it’s pretty much been confirmed by the announcement trailer.
Mine: 1.Unforgotten/Never Forget
My hands-down favorite track from the Halo series. It strikes emotions in me that I can’t describe, and that I can’t get from anything else. It would sadden me if I didn’t hear this playing in the background as I customize my Spartan before starting matchmaking.
2.One Final Effort
And all of it’s previous renditions. This is almost as important as the Halo theme itself.
3.Pale Horse
And all of it’s previous renditions. It’s just an epic track.
I’ll talk about tracks that haven’t been mentioned thus far…
Impend
That transition from the lovely, sorrowful melody in the opening to the steady, yet, ever intensifying beat… it just instilled this powerful drive to finish the fight. The remembrance of that which was lost - fellow soldiers, Spartans, Reach, the outer colonies - followed by the mustering of your will to press on. Knowing that with each step you took forward, your power only grew while the Covenant’s diminished.
Ghosts of Reach/Dread Intrusion
I’m turning my ear specifically towards the just awesome drum runs in both of these parts. It gives such a sense of simple, yet, powerful comradery and brotherhood. As though there was nothing that could stand in your way united! Also it was just a perfect fit for the Sangheili!
Arborea Above/The Lost Muse
These two are some of the most beautiful, tranquil and wondrous pieces of music to ever grace my ears… and in an FPS of all things! That feeling it gave you that there was really more beyond what you could see, hear, or shoot was just so quaint.
Uphill Both Ways
Welcome to the last day of the rest of your lives. Spartans never die and we’re going to finish this fight. If you need a weapon… right this way. It’s just epic. That is all.
I’m fine with the music as long as it’s as variable as the Halo 2 soundtrack was. But if asked for returning music, I would say Peril, Heavy Price Paid ,Covenant Dance and On a Pale Horse are the ones I would like to return.
Those four songs also give a good description of the variety I want from the Halo 4 soundtrack in general. Sometimes the music needs to be sad (Heavy Price Paid), sometimes happy (Peril) and sometimes badass in a Halo style (Covenant Dance, On a Pale Horse).
It willd definitely be hard for 343i to top the Halo CE and 2 soundtracks.
I would like to 343 do all new music for Halo 4 but I hope see the Halo theme to return because it’s wasn’t in Halo 3 ODST and Reach. It’s time to see it make a come back like the BR.

I’m pretty sure ‘A Walk in the Woods’ plays in the cutscene when you beat Two Betrayals, although you only hear it briefly. That song was remade in H2 but I forgot what it was called…
