I know that in the Halo series, Spartans are technically in the Navy by rank, but one of my friends who has recently joined the army told me that his Army Clique and him decided that Spartans would be a part of the Marines. I could see where he’s coming from, since with the newer Halo trilogy’s introduction of Spartan IVs they seem to be the first deployed into combat whereas Spartan IIs (IIIs too) were designated for special “amphibian” (Space-Ground) missions that made me want to compare them to Navy SEALs in the argument, although I was off.
What does the Halo community think? It doesn’t matter, but I would like to be enlightened by everyone’s point-of-view.
The lore states that the original Spartan-I, -II, and -III supersoldiers reported to Naval Special Warfare, making them part of the UNSC Navy. However, since the creation of the Spartan-IV program, all remaining Spartan-IIIs and new Spartan-IVs are part of the new Spartan branch of the UNSC. All surviving Spartan-IIs continue as Navy servicemen. If you ask me, the Spartans don’t exactly fit into any modern-day military branches. Plus, ODSTs seem more like Navy SEALS to me.
Navy or navy seals.
Honestly I think marines or infantry (runs from mob)

I feel like ODSTs are closer to air force as they constantly drop from the sky
They are whatever theyre told to be.
Well the marines are a department of the navy so thats true and i would think first force recon then and ODST would be closer to rangers our paratroopers jumpin out of a perfectly good spaceship nah def paratroopers for ODST
Royal Marine Commandos
Would the “Air Force” even be necessary if the Navy is technically controlling the skies (and space)?
Just some thought.

ODSTs drop from orbit. And when was the last time Air Force members fell from the sky on purpose?

The Marines are technically a department of the NAVY. I would say either seems plausible.

Paratroopers
I think the Spartans have there own system.

Paratroopers are typically Army.
I have thought about this often. Right now Navy seals are probably the fiercest warriors the world has to offer at the moment. So are Spartans. While Id say ODST’s are USMC Marines and the UNSC Marines in halo are ARMY.
Please note this comparison was based on bad assness
I’m assuming SOCOM which takes priority over Navy, Army, Marines, Airforce, and Coast Guard. It’s a special military operating unit that holds the Greend Berets, Navy SEALS, PJs, Force Recon and I believe any active duty member can put in an application to join any of those outfits. I would assume it’d be the same for Spartans.

For US, Special Tactics, EOD, Red Horse (Air Force Combat Engineers), and select Security Forces squadrons.
So quite often.

UNSC has an Air Force. And truth be told, for reality it would probably be the Air Force that would take control of military operations in space, considering that it already is the primary space force for pretty much every country involved in any form of space operations.
With reguard to the question Spartans in reality wouldn’t probably be one branch, but rather be part of Air Force Special Tactics, Navy Special Warfare (SEALs), MARSOC, and Army Special Forces and Rangers.
They really seem to be an combination of all those capabilities, at least on the US side, where special operations forces are spread throughout all the branches.

Oh, okay. I’m not too into the military, so I have no idea.
