So i havent really followed along with the books or comics or anything. I’ve read a few of the books and a couple comics. I have spent a good amount of time on the halo wiki pages. However, what should I be looking for in preparation for Halo Infinite? Any recommendations?
They just released a book called Shadows of Reach. It’s about Blue Team going back to Reach between H5 and Infinite to search a base.

I’m not sure I don’t actually follow the comics or books myself, I just heard about SoR. You’d have to look into it.
Shadows of Reach isn’t released yet, it comes out September 22 this year. For the rest this game is a spiritual reboot, which means we can’t know what part of the EU is important for the new story-arc or not. we have to wait official 343i/MS news about that or even he release oh Hi itself, sorry about that!

It would be really nice if someone from 343 could create some type of list or something of all the games, material, etc. you should focus on to prepare for Infinite

Well, yeah! Sure! Of course that would be nice! 
But it also could be the other way around. Meaning that Hi ends up being a complete stand alone story while comics and books build upon it. Meaning you would have to play the game before reading anything else. We just can’t know for sure sadly!

It pretty much won’t be a stand-alone story as it has been confirmed by 343i that H:I continues the story of H5:G.
You might as well do yourself a favor and just catch up on all of it. You know, since most people are stuck at home anyway.

Yeah, but how much? How strong is that connection? Is it just “Cortana is the bad guy”, or are we going to see the whole H5 cast, past story-lines, Jul Mdama’s Covenant?.. You see what I mean? Fall of Reach is strongly connected to HCE, but you don’t need it to understand everything going on in the game. Based on the info my best guess is that Hi is going to be the same, continuation or not, but I can’t know for certain of course!
The second book of the Forerunner Trilogy (Halo: Primordium) can give you a look at the things you might find on Installation 07, the implied location of Infinite’s story, but you might as well read all the books of the trilogy at that point to get everything in context.

Just take a look at the overview page for H:I.
The full extend won’t be known until the game will be released, but it is a safe bet that H:I won’t overthrow everything
what happened until now and that it will continue the story that was started with H4 and continued with H5:G.
