To start, this is not ment to flame and so I hope this isn’t locked but here we go. This thread is to dicuss the community cartographers.
This may have been done before but I doubte it because of who they are. Recently I learned that one of the cartogrphers had the balls to call out another cartogrpher on one of the maps he passed is crap, he is no longer a cartographer and his maps are now removed from matchmaking. So, I don’t really know why but that seems like garage to me.
Most of the maps I have seen im matchmaking these days are remedial at best while in customs I continually play maps that play great and have no framerate issues even with 4 player slitscreen. I then ask myself, why are the poorly made maps in matchmaking while good ones are in customs. I went to friends and asked their opinions. They told me to look at who created the maps and who is on their friends list. I did and found that they were one in the same. I initailly assumed that it was because they wanted the creaters on the list so I went looking for more information. I eventually got myself into a party while some cartographers were talking about a new posibille map for matchmaking, the creator of the map was also their. I decided to leave myself muted and merely listen (I was actaully in a party shortly before with other cartgraphers and trried reasning with them, I got kick because I was aparently disturbing those in power, or so the message afterward said).
All I ended up getting was that the cartogrphers was getting his -Yoink!- kissed and looking for some more of it. I went to friends with what I had learned and they said i was normal.
In absolute shock I would ask randoms on matchmaking if they new anything about this aswell as friends of my friends and all those who new something told me that if I want a map or a friends map to ever get in then never do anything but suck up to them. Now to be fair, I have not all of them but I am told that most are like that. I know of one who is not and one who may not (the now ex-cartographer). Also just to add one I am told that maps are barely tested before they go in and are judged weither the cartogrpher had a good game (owners of maps ask people to let the cartogrphers beet them (i have been asked) and when they cartogrpher has a bad game (I have been their) the map is now crap and doen’t deserve to be in matckmaking.
So now that my story is complete I will proceed to the topic. Bungie intended for the cartogrphers to be fair rules over matchmaking maps. I am sure thats how it started out. From what I have heard though that is no longer the case. So for halo 4 and on should we have new cartographers, keep them or reomove community ones all, together. Personally from what I’ve learned I beieve they should be removed and replaced with 343I employees because people seem to do thier job better and not get power hungery when they are payed to do so.
I look forwards to your replys weither in support or in protest but please leave them with a logical background because this is a very important decision to be made.
Also if I am proven wrong I will not cry like a baby and say that your all wrong just because, I will explain myself (and if this type of thread exists tell me plz).
