A map I think is underrated is Snowbound. While looking around you could see how the covenant was digging through ice and snow look for forerunner structures. The covenant bases were the first time we seen of their ground structures, which is round and smooth like the inside of their ships. While exploring you can see their were defending with the turrets on the outskirts that will kill you if you left the map. While snowbound isn’t liked as much as other maps I like how it felt like a BTB map that was shrunken down but yet didn’t feel cramped.
Can we have some love for Rat Race in CE here? It’s a stupid crazy map with long corridors, stupid spawns where there is always a gunfight and crazy ways to flank (hence stupid crazy). It’s always a fun map to lose.
I really liked Fathom, still disappointed they took it out of HCS.
Any Halo 5 map. I think they get a bad rep. Off topic, most overrated maps imo are Lockdown and Narrows. Can’t stand them.
I tried to think of one, but I have really hard time thinking of a map that hasn’t received the appreciation from the community it deserves. By and large, I think the Halo community tends to be fairly uncritical of maps, and manages to appreciate maps with solid design pretty well. The maps that I think are good tend to be well liked.

Man…the Halo PC days where we played “Infection” on that map…good times…
We used the honor code back then too. No automatic switching. When you died, you switched to blue. Goooood times…
The most underrated map of all time is Gemini from Halo 2. The map had a simply layout that any player could just pick up, yet at the same time it took some understanding of the maps flow to figure out to control it right, and if you could than matches of KoTH were crazy fun and competitive, it was a map that I always wanted to see remade and played competitively.
Halo 2’s Waterworks. Its a blast to play for Big Team Battle and Team Snipers. There’s tons of hiding spots and if you could get to the top of the map, and you moved every now and then, you were unstoppable! I love that map!

I agree 100%

Thank you!! My favorite map of all time.

I think it’s underrated in that people got tired of the map. It was one of only three maps we got in the Halo 3 Beta and frequently came up in Team Slayer matchmaking. I think it was just overplayed, that’s all.

On a list separate than this I would 100% put Snowbound in the top 3 overplayed maps in Halo. Overplayed doesn’t mean bad it just means that it could’ve just come up less.

Yeah, I’m the same way. Thinking about it now, one map doesn’t seem to come to mind. There are certainly maps I dislike (Damnation, Highlands, Boarding action, Truth, Regret, Landfall, Vertigo, etc.) but they tend to fall in line with most everybody elses. There are some maps that I have guilty pleasures for (Chiron TL-34), but I recognize that they are not well designed.
Just no on Snowbound. that map is deservedly hated. For me, I’m going with Boarding Action in CE. It’s an awesome map for 4v4 to 8v8, yet it rarely comes up. I’ve never seen it once since I started playing TMCC. Probably better for 8v8 games, but still really good.

Same fathom is a solid 8/10 for me.

I still remember the first H3 beta match I played was on Snowbound. It was my first time I had an Xbox console and was able to anticipate a Halo release- every Halo match I had played up until that point had been at friend’s houses. At one point I got a triple kill and couldn’t believe it. I definitely didn’t win the match, but I came in second or third and was super happy with my performance. Obviously after experiencing this moment, Snowbound holds a special place in my heart (though I don’t know if it’s under appreciated- it seems to get lots of love).
My favorite map in Halo 5 tends to get a lot of flak. March on Stormbreak is easily my favorite, and I have seen a lot of complaints about it over the years.
Literally any arena map from Halo 4. Besides Haven.
Snowbound. People may dislike that map with a passion, but I however, really think that map deserves some love and respect, even if it’s labeled “underrated”.
Another rather underrated map is most definitely Elongation. It was simple and the games were always so fast and close, it made every match seem like you were always a point or 2 apart from the other team.
I loved backwash from Halo 2 but I feel a lot of people haven’t played on it or if they have not much.
