What made Halo gameplay addictive is missing :(

To me Halo’s small arena maps from Halo CE-3 are what got me addicted . Sure I played the occassional BTB match , but playing 4v4 on small maps is what really kept me coming back to Halo , and the sole reason I stuck to Xbox.
This was missing in Halo 4 , and after watching the Halo 5 reveal I can see it is missing in Halo 5 . I dont need to play the beta to know its missing.
The Halo 5 reveal showed the map Truth (midship/heretic remake).

Looking at these gameplay videos side by side its very easy to spot how the game flow has been broken.
Halo 3 :

  • Always something happening on the screen , gameplay is fast and frantic.
  • Combat is dynamic with different angles , Good mix of far range and close quarter combat
    Halo 5 :
  • Periods of player just sprinting looking to find a player on the map
  • Combat always feels like a 1v1 firefight in a long hallway , Mainly far range combat
I want to mention I am not opposed to change in Halo , but I just dont like seeing the gameplay of my favourite franchise broken by bad gameplay decisions.
Please 343i understand what made Halo so special and preserve it . No one is just hating on Halo 5 for no reason , we are loyal customers who feel the fun/addictive aspect is missing and should be heard.

Don’t buy the game

Yes because this is what the Halo franchise needs
Ignore the players who has bought every single game and multiple consoles and supported the franchise for 10+ years

The multiplayer is based around these things. If they change it to the way you want it then it’ll be even worse.

Nope. Halo 3 was probably the slowest Halo yet. And 5 has been widely acknowledged to be a lot faster than others, even getting criticised for it. And all your other points on 5 are fallacious. In the Optic vs Str8 match, there was no long period of looking for players, nor was it a long-range battle. The Bane and AR were used throughout.

Care to elaborate as to what fallacy was used? Or why you feel that there were no long periods of trying to find people in halo 5? And I would make the argument that the bane and AR are mid range weapons, especially with sprint.

This is the first time I saw someone say Halo 5 was slower than Halo 3. I don’t think any addictiveness has left Halo. They are bringing back the addictiveness (arena mode) from Halo 3 to Halo 5.

You compared a video of someone very, very familiar with the game to a video of someone who was literally playing the game for the first time.

Your point has no ground.

Hmmmm did you see the MLG pro going at it on TRUTH everything down to the stupid comeback for the win? It had every characteristic you mentioned

No particular fallacy, I was just saying OP was being silly. We’ve seen whole matches of gameplay from Greenskull and such, and the combat is seamless. On another note, if the Sword isn’t a close range weapon, what is?

Tfw OP goes full potato

4v4 Arena is back

Your post is a bit odd, to be honest. You could easily say that Halo 5’s gameplay with all it’s movement abilities is much, much more dynamic and fast than Halo 3’s. Also, the problem of running around the map without seeing anyone… Well, that happened ALL THE TIME in Halo 3. All the time. You cherry picked a match that didn’t have that, and those matches exist in Halo 3, but most of the matches I played (this is my personal experience, at least) has some off-time where I can’t find anyone. I’m sure that when you actually get to play the Beta by yourself (if you will), you’ll get a bit of both.

And I still don’t understand, after reading your post, what exactly Halo 5 is missing from the first three games. I’ll skim through the thread responses for good measure.

I disagree about seemless combat. It seems very herky-jerky with the start-stop-start pace of sprint and clamber mid combat that eliminates field of view. And I thought the sword wasn’t the bane (or the Newgrounds drawn thing IS the sword?). Probably very few things would be close range (sword and shotty maybe) because sprint + slide + thruster to close the gap is ridiculous.

I disagree. Halo 5 is faster paced than halo 3 was. I just watched some videos of pros and amateurs and I can say the level of action was just about perfect and definitely more action than halo 3 had. Also we have to factor in that this game is new and many of these people are not familiar with the game yet so that will slow things down too somewhat.

Actually you do. Don’t think you can make your post relevant with one sentence. You haven’t played it yet, play the beta.
