What kind of levels are you looking for in Halo 4?

In Halo 4 I feel it needs:
A Vehicle based Mission. So mainly Warthog driving, kind of like Halo

A Tank based Mission, so the Ark for instance.

A Tutorial Mission

A Cinematic Mission

A Stealth Mission. Not with a sniper but trying to avoid forces attacking you and if you are found you have to revert to last checkpoint

A Sniper Mission. Perhaps backing up forces while they attack

A Flood Mission. Essentially just filled up to the brim with Flood. Like the Library or Cortana.

A Piloting Mission

and lastly what I feel has been lacking from the Halo series mission wise is a full scale war kind of mission, so with lots of AI

All of these kinds of missions obviously don’t run the whole way through with a tank or going all the way through piloting a vehicle, but these take up a lot of the mission. Well apart from the Flood Mission as they should be the only enemies in that mission.

This needs more ideas -bump-

I want a vehicle escape mission like the end of other previous Halo games.

bump, need more ideas for Halo 4

I don’t want any levels whatsoever where I’m forced to conform to one particular playing style to be the most effective. For example, ODST’s Uplift Reserve forced you to be on a Warthog or some other vehicle to make it through the level. Kizingo Boulevard forced you to be in a Scorpion. I don’t want to be forced to use some method of playing to progress through the level best, so levels that are designated to be “sniper” levels or “vehicle” levels are a no-no. Freedom of choice in how you want to play is what I want from H4’s campaign. If you want to ride a vehicle, you can do that. If you want to make it on foot, you can do that. If you want to approach it from a stealth perspective, you can do that.

Basically, a campaign that you, the player, can choose how to play.

but Halo does that and it works fine

I want one with a large battle/epic feel to it, bungie missed their chance in reach and why they didnt make the one with the spire epic i will never know

Following the usual Halo Style Campaign, that is having vehicle introduced in later mission rather than in the first one, i want a level maybe early in the campaign that has all sorts of engagements, maybe starting with an Orbital Drop onto a Desert type environment, with the first rally point mission being something like securing the Vehicle Drop Zone, then Rallying the ODST’s.

Then the Second Rally point will have you moving down towards the Beach destroying a Enemy base (on Foot Leaving Vehicle combat, both indoors and outdoors)

Then the last section of that level will have you piloting a new UNSC/Forerunner type vehicle chasing after an enemy Cruiser that is trying to jump into slip space, going through huge canyons or something like that…

While all this is happening, really show off the improved engine 343i is making with fantastic backgrounds such as forerunner architecture, or really alien natural environments, along with “real” cinematic type battles such as a high atmosphere engagements involving UNSC warships, with one or more crashing down in front of you creating a huge crater with a trail of smoke, flames and wreckage. and while all this is happening have heavy comm chatter.

Weasel

with your background have enforcers and sentinels flying around as well

> with your background have enforcers and sentinels flying around as well

if you are talking about my post, then yeah, sentinels (the one from ghosts of onyx as well) along with enforcers, that would be cool, but if its on a alien world with no forerunner influence, have huge dinosaur type creature running away from the battle field, if only to be in the backgrounds its worth it…

Weasel

how about
cinematic shows you entering yhe big planet like thing but it turns out to be a teleporter that drops you off at sanghelios in which you meet the arbiter but the flood arrive and you have to escape.

next mission shows cortana, master chief and arbiter with a bunch of elites discuss how they are going to stop the flood from ravashing sanghelios so they tell the unsc that they have found john and that they will need to evacuate everyone off of the planet but one of the ships gets shot down and master chief and arbiter are on it so they have to make it to a new phantom or pelican but the flood try to stop them.

this mission shows us that the flood have tooken over all sentient life in sanghelios.

ooh idea for a halo 6 mission.maybe another time shows you play as an odst who was on a pelican that was shot down by remaining covenant forces still on earth and as you are dying the master chief runs up and tries to save your life but to no avail you die and master chief goes to avenge your death and kicks covenant butt

To be horrifyingly honest, I don’t want (most) of anything already done. Everything in OP’s post like EPIC TANK MISSIONS inspired by The Ark and the missions that inspired that, or MORE BIGGER AND CRAZY WARZONES MAN with an overload of artificial intelligence running around. I could honestly care less about that. Why? Because it is (for the most part) repetitive.

I want something new and fresh, something that will excite and bewilder me like my first time sniping Hunters on Truth and Reconciliation. I want something innovative, coupled with a deep sense of unchallenged immersion, like the frantic halls of The Library or even the first time I witnessed the cataclysmic warring between both Covenant and Flood on Two Betrayals.

Of course, a little sprinkle of nostalgia here and there would be nice. I’m just trying to say I don’t want epic moments in Halo 4’s campaign that feels like they were copied and pasted in from previous Halo titles.

Is that too hard to understand?

> A Stealth Mission. Not with a sniper but trying to avoid forces attacking you and if you are found you have to revert to last checkpoint.

Every single Halo game has failed at this so yeah I wanna see 343 do it right. cough ODST cough, cough

I want all missions to support multiple combat styles.

I don’t want any missions that are only for certain kind of combat and definitely not a stealth mission where you revert to last checkpoint if spotted. Halo is a sandbox game where the player should be able to use any combat style they want. It should continue like this, for example something I’ve always wanted is actually being able to get far or even through a level without ever getting noticed. Like The Truth and Reconciliation in Halo CE for example, would have been really cool if you could have got all the way to the ship without ever getting noticed.

That is something I would like to see, if you don’t get spotted on some spot, but kill all the enemies, there won’t be coming any more enemies to that spot. But if you are spotted while killing the enemies, after you have killed all of them, more enemies will come from some direction. This would allow for a different gameplay experience with every gameplay style and bring the sandbox experience to a whole new level.

Maybe there could even be a mission with a driving sequence with lots of enemies on the way, but you could get around that and go on foot. There would be enemies, but not that much. Both ways would be similar on difficulty and you would only choose the way that supports your gameplay style.

To be honest, I wouldn’t want that, because it breaks the sense of immersion in the game, and, for some, it would be frustrating, sort of like how killing a civilian accidentally in Exodus results in the players death. Halo has always been very much a sandbox game. Doing something like that restricts the player to a single path, rather than the multiple Halo is known for.

Nice long levels like Assault to the Control Room like in Halo CE

> Nice long levels like Assault to the Control Room like in Halo CE

That, and ones without buttons.

I play Halo for combat and gameplay, not psychological testing in a skinner box.

> Nice long levels like Assault to the Control Room like in Halo CE

I would love long maps but why not have a full scale war where you fight forces on foot, in vehicles or in the air

I want the campaign to be more choice based, as other people in this thread have already said.

The only on-the-rails type campaign mission I want to see is an escort mission. We have yet to have one.

For example, at the start of the mission you and your team load up into vehicles, and you can choose which one you want. You are tasked with protecting a convoy of 3 Elephants, and have the aid of a couple Warthogs and Hornets.

This has never been done in Halo before, and I’ve wanted this type of mission since Halo 2.

I honestly don’t care what kind of missions they have. I’d just really like a variety of themes. I don’t wanna look at rock and grass the whole game. If I had to choose missions though I’d say 343 should break out of the box a little and do other things that Bungie didn’t do. And maybe attempt some boss fights.

Just think like a big ol’ Sentinal that released smaller Sentinals and the only way to kill it is to manage to get behind it somehow and rip it’s circuits out. Or some other form of generic boss fights.
