What ive noticed about Halo 4's gameplay.

The game is amazing but theres a lot of bullcrap going on still. My main problem is the DMR, it feels stronger now, still as accurate as well even if the reticle is a tad smaller. Use to be people die in 4-5 shots but now its like 3-4 and ive seen people shoot it stupidly fast.

Other weapons include the BR when used by EVERYONE on the other team, Boltshots when used by cloakers, and the fact that BTIS (big team infinity slayer) has become the new spawn trapping playlist, mainly on Exile and Valhalla.

The first couple days i played everything was easy and i was top player in most every game, now its a hard battle just to win the match.

So id like to see the boltshot nerfed at least and spawns adjusted on those maps.

The reason why games got harder the more you played is because obviously you were being matched with people at the starting skill level, so obviously as you won games, your skill level increased and you’re now playing with people equal to you in skill.

DMR is certainly a god tier weapon. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is a difficult thing to discuss, considering the fact that everyone has the option to start with one. Reminds me a bit of the pistol usage in Halo 1. It certainly has a very homogenizing effect upon the style of gameplay.

Boltshots really aren’t too much of an issue - try using one, you’ll find it’s a bit harder than you’d imagine. Also, when a game incorporates class systems, certain combinations will work better than others. Also, there are always theoretical counters. For instance, you complain about the invisibility perk and how it works with the boltshot. One could theoretically propose that you equip Prometheus vision to aid in countering this player.

Problem is, you can’t counter everything all at once. Gameplay engines that utilize a class system with an emphasis on diversity (I would argue that Halo 4 has very little diversity overall) always lead to counters that have an advantage upon you. That’s the nature of the beast. Personally, I prefer an even a playing field as possible, so the victor is determined by their motor skills in a fight rather than game skills they chose before a fight.

One thing I forgot to add - spawning system definitely needs some tweaks. Instant spawns are insane. Can’t count how many times I’ve been killed and spawn flanked the guy that killed me, ensuring my revenge. Total nonsense. 343 really wasn’t thinking well when they implemented it. Sure, I get that Call of Duty does it. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

i agree about the DMRs firing really fast, does everyone use modded controllers cause they always seem to fire faster than mine 0.o

The thruster packs in Campaign fly about the same distance as Halo: Reach’s Evade would roll. But the Thruster packs in War Games and Spartan Ops only go about half that distance. WHY!? I can’t avoid Banshee bombs or other explosions, I can’t quickly get behind cover to avoid enemy fire, I can’t do anything useful with it! The entire point of that armor ability is to avoid enemy fire and quickly traverse a map in fast jumps, but only going such a short distance make it impossible. I can tell other people have realized this since NO ONE ever uses it, at least in the games I’ve seen. When I played Campaign I thought I was going to love this new take on Evade, especially since you can use it in mid-air, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s only half of the armor ability it should be and isn’t worth anyone’s time until it gets buffed.

The thruster pack is weak indeed, i never use it.

Ive used the boltshot, i know how it works. but im not gonna restrict myself by making a loadout JUST for them. ive used the scattershot 2 and it sucks COMPLETE -Yoink-. it takes like 2-3 shots to kill anyone with it while the boltshot does it in one. it needs to be nerfed enough to where there is a clear range of when to use it to get a instant kill and just take out someones shields.

The DMR i loathe. I had to deal with nothing but that -Yoinking!- gun all throughout Reach and i dont want to do it ALL -Yoinking!- OVER AGAIN in Halo 4 just because people cant get any kills with anything else.

Another thing i dont like. the hardlight shield. its -Yoinking!- crap. it doesnt block shots right away, sometimes people melee through it, and it doesnt deactivate fast enough for you to throw a last ditch effort grenade. only cool thing ive done with it is reflect a guys last 2 br shots(in one firing) back at him killing him after the first shot killed me. (i have the clip in fileshare)

what im fearing the most is the insane spawn trapper setups people will have by the time everyone is around SR80 and such. theres going to be A LOT of BS games in the coming year.

Seano not really. The people im playing against now are only harder because they are just useing cheap combos and hording power weapons and DMRs more. They suck but always have themselves dug into places so much there isnt much we can do from the other side of the map. they are like noob spawn trappers, useing and abusing what they can to get those little jumps on you a few times before figuring out how to get by it. but by then they are already too far ahead in score to even try to catch up to. its -Yoinking!- -Yoink-.

All I can gather from this is that you just lost a match and are now incredibly pissed, relax.

About the standard DMR for everyone, I get the feeling the maps aren’t for traversing, but rather there to sit behind a rock and snipe opponents all the way across the map. It’s not very fun.

  1. The Boltshot’s over-charge needs a nerf.
  2. The Scattershot needs a buff.
  3. Make the DMR and BR fire rate the same by either lowering the DMR’s fire rate or increasing the BR’s.

That’s all I can think of that needs to be done as far as the weapons go.
