I can honestly say that, while I can’t say that I don’t care for ordnance, I don’t care about ordnance. For me, it’s just there. I’m glad when I get good weapons or power-ups, but it’s never really a game-changer for me, and I can’t say I ever need it. However, while I wouldn’t mind playing without ordnance, I have no desire for it to be removed.

What playlists are you playing?

Team Slayer and Big Team Slayer are the playlists I play most often that have ordnance.
Originally I couldn’t stand it, I felt that the entire concept was out of place. Overtime though it really doesn’t matter anymore, first off because its just become part of the game and I’m now used to it. Secondly I’ve actively tried to avoid playlists or gametypes that use infinity settings.
My only gripe left with them is the out and out randomness of the weapon rolls. Its very irrtitating to get plasma grenades/Needler/Speed Boost when someone else might get Overshield/Saw/Concussion Rifle.
I think they shouldn’t be all those power weapons in them. Instead, grenade, your primary weapon, and a chance of a power-up. Something like that.
I don’t mind it’s presence. Always end up with a much wider variety of power-weapons on the field than would appear without it, So it really mixes things up in my mind. I’ve kind of steered away from using Power weapons these days, so i usually end up with the Ordnance drop waiting around until I have need of something. Wether it be in a pinch or just for a particular situation.
Always nice though to grab an Overshield just in time for a Banshee pilot to ram you though. Though I doubt those players are happy with the angry Soldier stuck to the nose of his plan afterwards. Or the hilarity of coordinating two Ordinance drops with a friend. So I get Speed boost and they get that grenade launcher, Hello suicide Spartan. Only done it once and it was hilarious, even if I died immediately after the blast.
I dislike random and personal ordnance, and I feel that initial ordnance is a bit misguided, but I would like to see the system improved.
I would like to see them increase accessibility, but not at the cost of randomising the game. To do this, I would have power weapons spawn at the same location, at set times throughout a game as they would in Halo CE. However, 3 seconds prior to a weapon spawning I would have a notable waypoint appear where the weapon will spawn in order to help teach new players about the weapon timings. This waypoint would then disappear as the weapon spawns so as to prevent players baiting it as a positional give-away as the current waypoints can be used for.
Random and personal ordnance don’t need to exist outside of being custom game options.
can beat em join em! ive forced myself to like ordnance and use it to the best of my ability. might as well, its a part of halo now!
Its a great help to get weapon commendations & perhaps resupply you with ammo…
I think it’s ok as a casual player, because I would never get any power weapons because I can’t remember stuff like spawn times, etc. However I feel that it could of been executed better, maybe a tiered system so Tier 1- Ammo Tier 2- basic power weapons like the Needler and SAW Tier 3- Stuff like Snipers, Rockets Launchers, etc.
I think Infinity Slayer social playlist would have made excellent training grounds for a classic ranked Team Slayer.
POD is an interesting idea, but many people became soured to it when Infinity was the only Slayer option available for so many months.
I wish there was a classic playlist so I wouldnt have to deal with it.
The whole randomization thing is ridiculous. Your enemy got a sniper rifle? Ok, you get a saw! Have fun! -.-
It’s a good idea but poorly implemented.
I hate it, no point in gaining map control. I want classic Halo back.
Its something that should of NEVER been added to halo to begin with.
Halo used to be about knowing the map, knowing where the power weapons were, knowing the respawn timers, fighting your way to obtain an advantage (Power Weapon or Power Up) and controlling the map.
Halo 4 has now made it so that even if I dont get a kill i can gain ordinance via assists and then I have a power weapon gifted to me so i can get some easy kills…
ID be ok if it was just damage boost, overshields and such but not actual weapons, power weapons SHOULD be map pickups.

Slayer Pro?
Any system that rewards players for doing nothing special that can ruin the balance of match in a heart beat needs to go. I cannot tell you the amount of times that me and my team have gotten saws and needlers, while the enemy team have gottens bean rifles and Icannons or vice versa.
I like Ord Drops b/c it mixes things up a bit. However, they should be separated by tiers to even the playing field. Also, I’m glad that we have Slayer Pro, so i can enjoy the “old-fashioned” way of playing Classic Slayer w/out Ords drops.
I like internal & random ordinance
Internal for keeping the game fair so there is no weapon camping.
So other players can also have the sniper or rocket.
Random ordinance is useful for grenades and loadout weapons or tier 2 weapons like the concussion rifle, needler and scatter shot.
(just no tier 1 power weapons like the snipers and rockets)
I dislike personnel ordinance because it promotes camping and players can keep others players from getting ordinance and getting the lead quickly for a long time.
I hate Halo 4, but I actually think ordinance is the one new feature that could work if tweaked thoughtfully.
