I just read this news about the Halo Infinite co-op campaign levels not coming out until May 2022. I am very curious to hear from everyone. What is your overall thoughts on the Halo Infinite co-op campaign levels getting a May 2022 release date? Personally, I am very happy that it’s getting a May 2022 release date. At the same time, I am also very happy that this can give Joseph Staten, Bonnie Ross and their team at 343 Industries plenty of time planning to release the Halo Infinite co-op campaign levels including checking any bugs or glitches in the co-op campaign levels.
It sucks, but there’s nothing we can do about it.
Pretty sure they said it a while ago. unsure why people are talking again on it. So far them taking time seems to have made a good gameplay system. If what they do release is good I prefer they take their time
As long as it works when it does come out. MCC was a clusterfuck when I tried to play co-op campaign with my friends cause how messy it was and took a hot minute to fix. Eventually they got it right but man I would much rather wait for a proper functional one than early MCC days part 2.
they said that where? in some blog post or on reddit? if they only say it where less than half a percent of the player base will see i dont see how its would be common knowledge, its been new information for everyone ive told since learning this week. now most of them are talking about not buying the game till its added
did they ever fix it? MCC worked so horribly that no one i know will even install it to try the campaign co-op after how much its refused to even close to function whenever we did try. it works ok solo campaign for me but i havent wasted my time with the multiplayer since it dropped with how badly even that worked at launch
Was royally pissed off when they announced the delay, more so now that said delay will be longer still. Co-op has been a longer running feature in this franchise than online MP but their handling of Infinite so far makes it pretty clear that MP (and related monetization) is the focus this time round.
Been discussed in other threads, but I’d have preferred the game be held until it was actually completed. That co-op is presenting the development issues it seems to be begs the question of whether or not the “choose your own adventure” approach they seem to be after was a good idea.
Really nothing to be done about it, but if not for getting it with the console I likely wouldn’t have even purchased the campaign until it launched co-op.
Around Halo 3’s MCC release onwards me and my group of friends were able to have a consistent run through the rest of the games without issue so I believe it was fixed around then.
Pretty sure they said it a while ago. unsure why people are talking again on it.
They did say a while ago that it was delayed until season 2. However they announced they were extending season 1, and officially confirmed like today that it also meant co-op was being pushed back again which is why people are talking about it again.
While I obviously would have liked for co-op to be in at launch ultimately what I care about is that it’s functional when it does launch so currently I don’t think it’s a big deal but if it launches as a buggy mess when we do eventually get it then I’ll be quite pissed
I dont like it either… but the game, so far, is really good. Im enjoying a lot, even with it flaws. I hope they got a surprise for us with forge (AI)
With all the delayed content, they really need to knock the story out. Cause if they don’t, I don’t think co-op being delayed will matter at that point. It has to be at least as good or better than Halo wars 2’s story(including the dlc), its as good as Halo 2 or Halo Reach than thats impressive(which tie for the best halo campaigns period). However I’m not hoping for anything amazing, with the lack of content with multiplayer, its caused me to temper the high expectations I had for the campaign.
Also for anyone who hasn’t yet, make sure the read shadows of reach and divine wind before release if you haven’t already. Cause their a direct prologue for halo infinite presently and probably be very important to understanding the story as a whole.
they said that where? in some blog post or on reddit?
I forget where exactly but I know they had a video on youtube at least a couple months ago where they said they would not be able to release co op and forge on launch. I will try to find it.
Halo Infinite | Development Update - August was the original video on the delay. Sounds like they may have pushed back more according to other replies. I may be stupid but I thought the new dates were close to when they were releasing it before. As I had said before I would rather they delay it and give us quality content rather than rush it and deliver a poor quality product.
Like what I have already said, I am very happy that 343 Industries is taking their time planning to release the Halo Infinite co-op campaign levels. I don’t really want to see the Halo Infinite co-op campaign levels that is halfway finished especially when it comes to bugs and glitches.
very disappointed in the news. In my opinion there should be no reason why its been delayed. campaign co-op is a staple to the franchise and should be released on day 1. now maybe there is some hidden surprise and thats why its been delayed not sure but this isnt good for 343
Honestly. I’m furious. As much good as 343 is trying to do, they keep making scummy decisions.
Like, okay they dropped firefight for spartan ops. That’s fine. I even liked it. But that is still a step back and a step forward.
Then Halo 5 got rid of spartan ops entirely. The campaign became focused on 4 player co-op. Which would have been cool, if split-screen and LAN was still there. But you had to have xbox live to play with anyone. And no other true co-op modes on release didn’t help.
MCC’s co-op has always been broken. Not everyone wants to only stay in multiplayer. Then when crossplay came around and I move to PC, my GF and I learned the hard way that only matchmaking and custom games are co-op. Campaign crossplay is not in the game!
So we had some hope for Infinite. We were going to go into Infinite together. Then they said it would come with Season 2. We were annoyed, but we understood the reason. So we were just going to wait the 3 months. We had MP drop early which was good. But then they said they are delaying season 2 and to wait for news for co-op and forge in January. Okay, so nothing denying co-op and forge aren’t tied to seasons. Fine. That’s a good move.
Except that when the progression system came as lack luster, I ran the math. Not using 2xp boosts or daily challenges. If you did all the challenges every week, you would finish the season in 5 months. So, I found that suspicious. Moving it to 6 months and having the bare minimum only cover 5 months of a 3 month season. That is a huge red flag.
On top of that the Eurogamer article came out saying co-op and forge are still tied to the seasons. Its discouraging. This stuff should be in the game at launch and now my GF and I are waiting 6 months and dodging spoilers until then. I almost wish they just canceled co-op and just stop pretending to care. I wouldn’t be as mad if 343 didn’t have their history of neglecting co-op. but it feels like for every release they forget that co-op exists in one form or another. and I really hoped this one would have been different.
I’m not a 343 hater, I never have been. I liked Halo 4, Halo 5 had its shining spots. Infinite is doing alot of good. I don’t know what exactly is going on in there but for the progression system coming along how it did, the time it took, and extending season 1 aligns a little too well to be coincidence. Coupled with 343’s history with co-op, can you see why I’m so pessimistic about 343’s view at this point?
I hope come their promised January news drop they detach co-op and forge from the seasons and keep them on track for 3 months. I feel like by 6 months no one except the minority of co-op people like me would care about the campaign anymore.
On one hand it sucks for sure. But I don’t get the impression it was because of some laziness.
Next to this if we want to support a more healthy game industry it’s pur job as fans to be a bit more patient especially during a pandemic for 343 and other studios to do their thing.
That’s my opinion anyway
There is still heavy input lag, and there is no campaign crossplay. I’m on PC, GF is on Xbox. We can’t play together. If we did, either she has to build a PC and by MCC again, or I pick up Gamepass ultimate and dust off my Xbox One.
I didn’t even realise this was a thing until two days ago. My partner and I are really bummed out about it. We’ve played all the Halo games together in co-op because it’s something we like to share and experience together. Now if we wait until May the campaign is going to be spoilered to hell and back, and it’s not going to feel right playing it alone. I guess we could put our computers and screens next to each other and play our own single player campaigns at the same time but… doesn’t feel right, u know?
I don’t like it, it is one of a few things that has turned off my interest and excitement for the game. I avoided Halo 5 spoilers for a year after it released because I didn’t get an Xbox One until 2016, so I feel ok about waiting more for this game to be in the place it should have released in before playing campaign.
