what do you dislike the most about the Halo series?
Worst Thing: Spartan Charge. Hate it.
Best Thing: Epic battle moments with a perfect score. Think Halo 3, Level 7 The Covenant. Still stands out as one of my all time favorite halo moments.

I’d have to agree with everything you just said there.

There are moments where things don’t feel ‘fair’ for lack of a better term. You get beat by someone who keeps teleporting, you get one shotted by a banshee off spawn, you get taken out while in a tank by the new grunt goblin while behind cover in 1 attack. Whether it be multi-player, campaign, or firefight those are the things I hate about Halo. If I get beat, I get beat. Sometimes though it isn’t your fault, it isn’t a deficit in skill or experience whether it’s lag or a poorly designed mechanic. Those are the moments I hate.
My least favorite part about Halo is the direction in which it is trending.
The complainers.
- The direction 343i is taking the franchise, especially with both gameplay and plot developments in Halo 5. - Fighting Flood (and any Flood-heavy level). - Fighting Prometheans in Halo 4. - Stealthed Elite Zealots with Energy Swords in narrow corridors.

I have a hunch that once Halo 6 is released, some of these same folks who are currently complaining about Halo 5 will soon look back with rose colored glasses and talk about how much they enjoyed Halo 5. Some folks are just glass half empty gamers.
Each Halo entry has had parts of the game that were annoying, but overall each entry has been pretty sweet.

Agreed my man. People just love to complain.
Connection Freaking Lost.So annoying.
Another thing is getting match with a good fireteam in warzone and get destroyed 576/1000
Right now, at this very moment, I am really unsatisfied with the way the halo story is heading.

Not quite, I’ve been around a long time and I’ve seen the same trend since Halo 2 was announced people hate everything. Halo 2 was horrible according to a large percentage of the community at the time, a few years later it was the perfect game. Halo 3 was hated for equipment and a dozen other things. Now Best game ever. Halo Reach was the most tumultuous time I’ve seen on the forums warring factions everywhere and now that the Reach kids have grown up it is the best game ever. Halo 4 is still hated, but I’ve seen a few posts about how it was ‘perfect.’ H5 will follow that trend.
Every game starts out with vitriol meeting it. Sometimes the game changes, sometimes it doesn’t. Each game wins over some of the community from the last game, some of the keep playing in spite of it, and some of them quit for one reason or another. Each new game also brings new players and those players think that the game they started with is perfect; the epitome of what Halo should be. The next game comes out and the process repeats. So yeah, Halo 5 will be eventually considered ‘perfect’ by a good section of the community, but It’ll probably be when 7 comes out and the 5 kids are the ones dominating the forums.

Or, maybe, people exist who liked certain games when they came out and still like them, and disliked other games when they came out and still dislike them. I’ve always liked Halo CE, H2, and H3, and never understood why people hated 2 and 3. H4 was better than I expected, but mostly because I didn’t actually buy and play it until just this last year. And H5, well…nothing is ever going to make me like it. My opinions on games tend to stay consistent over the years because I am not fickle, my interests tend to not change to the extremes like others do.
- The direction the story is going - Prometheans - REQ system for armor(credit system was awesome)

I don’t know, I started around Halo 2 and loved every halo game afterwards up to Halo 4. While Halo 4 wasn’t terrible, it seemed to lack what every other Halo game seemed to have. I absolutely loved Halo Reach but my favorite game out of the bunch is Halo 3 despite starting at Halo 2 and CE. According to a Straw Poll, with 1005 voters, Halo 3 seemed to be the best, with Halo 2, Reach, CE, and ODST fallowing behind(in that order). Halo 4 only got 4%(lol) of the votes with Halo Wars and Spartan Assault following right behind with 0%. According to another poll here on the forums, Halo 3 was again at top with Halo Reach and Halo 2 following behind. Even then, Halo 5 got a better rating than CE and 4. Halo 5 isn’t all that bad and from what I’ve seen it’s gotten a better rep than Halo 4 despite the campaign being short and the spotlight not being on Chief. Most polls follow the same patter: Halo 3 or Reach being on top while 2, CE, or 5 follow behind them. Most polls I’ve seen had Halo 4 being the worst than Halo 5. In fact one poll I saw(link in spoiler) had Halo 5 come above Halo 2 and CE but below Reach and 3. I think the fan consensus is Halo 3 or Reach was the best, with Halo 2 coming in third, CE, ODST and 5 at the same level, and Halo 4 and Spartan Assault/Strike coming in dead last.
My list from favorite game to least favorite game goes as follows: H3, Reach, H2, ODST, H5, CE, Wars, H4, and the mobile games.

So you fall into either the ‘keep playing in spite of your feelings category or the quit fro one reason or another category.’ I was just describing the section of the community that seems to Hate everything about each game. It is just a pattern I’ve noticed. Everyone is different.

Didn’t say it was everybody. Just said it was the pattern I see with the hate. There are of course going to people who enjoy every game for the good points. I’d that was me with 2 and 3. I didn’t have any issues with the changes and enjoyed them wholeheartedly. Of course I’m not saying it is everybody, I’m just disagreeing with the pattern you propose and I think Halo 2/3/Reach will always be the fan’s favorite Halo game. IF you want to read my long Halo 4 rant, open up the spoiler below.
I think the reason Halo 4 is getting a bad rep is because they’re taking the focus of the game somewhere else. It’s no longer solely about the covenant and the spotlight has shifted to the Prometheans, a shift most fans don’t like. It’s not just the prometheans(as many players will agree its a fun enemy and they made it into Halo 5, and Halo 5 was good imo) the game started in a very generic way and then, the game just progresses around you. No surprises, no action moments, no epic cut scenes (like the hyperspace jump in Halo 2). Not to mention the Quick time events are ripped off from Call of Duty, like a freaking tribute to the newbies instead to the Halo veterans who have spent 12 years of their lives playing this franchise. Later, when Master Chief tracks the location of the Infinity, he (and MANY true Halo fans) takes a big surprise: there are more Spartans. While some fans may argue that this was a good development in the story, many will argue the opposite. Anyway, spartan ops was an episodic nightmare with a lot of repetition. The differentiation between Halo’s original covenant models and the new one’s felt bad, and the UNSC didn’t seem like a war torn army anymore. Not only were the design changes bad for a lot of players the multiplayer was terrible. The multiplayer in Halo 4 suffers a disastrous unbalance of weapons, starting with the painfully Loadout weapons. The DMR is the favorite long range weapon, because the reticle doesn’t open every time you fire a shot, giving you a HUGE advantage. The BR is a mediocrity compared to Halo 3’s BR. The assault rifle is completely overpowered. Any noob can pick up the AR/Magnum combo and kill any veteran. Adding secondary such as Plasma Pistols or Boltshots is completely unfair for anyone. At that moment Halo didn’t become balanced arena matches all about map and power weapon control but more like pick a good loadout(with the addition of ordinance drops, it was just terrible). The maps, playlist and the overall multiplayer experience don’t feel like a Halo game at all. Starting with the physics: the Spartans now move much faster than before. Now everything is like in Call of Duty; everything destroys really quickly and everyone dies easily. The energy shields are a freaking joke. They just deplete so damn fast that you don’t even realize you had in the very first place(or it’s possible that’s just me). When you receive enemy fire, your Spartan will now flinch like in Call of Duty, giving you less use of skill and more luck to chance. Adding things like ordnances upgrades (Overshields, Damage increases and Speed Boosts), Tactical Packages and Support upgrades simply destroys any love I had to Halo 4. Halo was different from any other shooters, because there were not upgrades to help you in the battlefield, it was an arena shooter. That is why Halo 4 will most likely be the franchise’s worst game yet. Now I know what some of you may be thinking “Halo Reach had armor abilities, so not everyone started with the same equipment.” I absolutely agree with you, but Halo Reach’s armor abilities were not game changing nor a major change unlike Halo 4 where it became a total class shooter.

Yo diría que mi parte menos favorita de halo es todas en las que aparezcan los flood en verdad odio a estos animales…
My least favorite thing about Halo is probably the spawns especially in warzone and WZFF. Even the older Halos had bad spawns.
Brain Reeds writing. the new music direction.(I miss the epic solos and the jazzy sax from odst) The lack of support for OG gameplay.
Some people are just skull half-empty gamers…
Really hate fanboys, but that’s not a Halo thing. You could visit any gaming community and the fanboys will always spout the same garbage and behave in the exact same way. It’s awe-inspiring how consistent they are at being terrible.
> My least favorite part about Halo is the direction in which it is trending.
That’s probably the best answer I could give. It’s open ended enough to really mean just about anything, and I definitely couldn’t pick just one thing.
To give a unique answer though, the sandbox design for the past decade. Automatics have pretty much never been in a good place, they always fall into one of two extremes. They shouldn’t be crutch weapons you just ignore, nor should they be an easy method of obtaining kills. Ce is the only game they came close to being designed properly. Then there’s hitscan, the slow killtimes, how melee has been buffed tremendously since the original game, so on.
