I definitely agree. I wouldn’t mind seeing them try a Ravager and/or hydra in ranked at some point, both have powerful applications in a BR starts setting without being overpowered like the sword is.
But they’re also more random than something like a bulldog or heatwave
I have a fondness for all of the maps, I can’t really say I have a favourite. Seeing a lot of hate for Highpower, but I actually really enjoy that one. The fact that it’s the only map that has Wasps seperates it from most of the others, and I like that, it gives it a unique identity, plus flying a Wasp is just really satisfying.
The only complaints I have are:
Launch Site: It can be very unbalanced for one side.
Catalyst: I really like this map, yet I hate it in FFA, the spawns are too predictable, someone always spawns in the back bases and with so many sight lines your always vulnerable (only an issue with FFA).
Favorite: behemoth, nice large maps with vehicles and some actual room to use them(sort of). Least favorite: Bazzar, a more crampt feeling Terf map, no thanks, Terf was way better.
Favorite 4v4: Recharge. I find Recharge has a nice flow, and there’s almost always multiple routes to take to get anywhere. It has a lot of elevation and most of the areas of the map feel very distinct. Given that this is Infinite we are talking about, it also helps that the maps isn’t perfectly symmetrical. Only problem with it is that the maps isn’t much of a looker compared to something like Behemoth.
Least favorite 4v4: Launch Site. Tough call between in and Bazaar, but Live Fire takes it for being a chore to play on AND not being built for the player count you are stuck with on it. The map really feels like it was made for 6v6, and while it is pretty unique in layout compared to other Infinite maps said uniqueness ended up really hurting the map.
Now for my preferred mode, BTB:
Favorite: Highpower. I love having a dedicated vehicle spawn for something that isn’t a Warthog or Mongoose, on a map made for vehicles ahemDeadlockahem. I find a lot of the main hotspots to be funner to fight around than in Fragmentation, and plinking down approaching Warthogs with the hydra’s dummy fire is very fun in CTF. Granted the map is absolutely biased towards the side with the pit and I’d call it my favorite BTB map, but not the best; that honor goes to Fragmentation.
Least favorite: Deadlock. Matches on this map always feel like a chore, and are usually dominated by whoever gets a shockrifle and/or BRs.
I had a custom game match last night, Team Slayer on Catalyst and we won like 50-37. I can’t remember the last time I’ve won by that many on that map before. Plus, now the weight of that map feels extremely high for matchmaking. Ranked of course that is.
