What direction do you want infinite to go in AI. What aspects of previous halo’s AI did you like
I liked the halo 2 marines a lot. It might just have been their dialogue. But I enjoyed how effective they were. On legendary working with the marines helped a ton. AND they had regenerating health. For the AI they took cover and grouped up with you. In fact they would often hold a good position instead of moving up. Perhaps they had set waypoints of defend zones and weren’t as free form or something. I honestly don’t know but I liked how they would take cover and not blindly charge all the time.
For Brutes I liked their pack mechanics in halo 3 but mostly I liked the more dynamic unexpected berserk of halo 2.
Elites in reach were honestly a huge buzzkill. They were extremely agile but I never felt they were particularly smart and took cover. It was more like they were so strong that they didn’t need to. Even as far back as halo CE elites would take cover and wait for shields to regen. Also the enemy remembering where you were in halo 2 and suppressing a corner you popped out of. that was a very nice touch.
I didn’t particularly enjoy fighting skirmishers in reach tbh. Probably because I felt that they had no personality. They were aggressive all the time even when low on numbers. I would have preferred a fear mechanic to be present. The Brutes I think should sometimes even run away if you had wiped out a lot of their fellow brutes. But not all the time. Sometimes they should go berserk. I think both sides should be represented. While brutes are not cowards they don’t have the same honor as elites.
I hope the grunts get to shine a bit. They always run away but maybe we can see some grunt spec ops that operate alone as grunt only squads who are more ferocious and cunning than other grunts. Instead of dolphing diving on their stomach to dodge grenades they could jump and land on their side and be continuously shooting you.
Overall I hope their is improvement with AI. And voice lines like in halo 2. What do yall think?
