What is YOUR fave DLC Map Pack?

Out of the three DLC Map Packs released so far (Crimson, Majestic, and Castle), which one is your favourite?

I think Majestic and Castle come in for a close tie for me, but I like Castle slightly more.

Medium sized maps are always my favorite, so I went with castle, though I think Harvest is pretty good, and I also really like landfall.

Also, lighting means a lot to me on maps and castle has the least problems in this department. Majestic is very dark other than landfall, and the lighting in Crimson is almost unbearable minus harvest.

As much as I like pretty maps and skyboxes, I think those should be secondary to gameplay, and until castle I was’t sure if 343 had got the memo.

Of the three, castle is the best one.

Agreed!

I’m not really sure. I’m kinda between Castle and Majestic. I prefer smaller maps, but I’m really liking Castle. It really hard for me to pick one, but I think I like Castle just slightly more. I was never a big fan of Crimson, though.

Seeing how you didn’t have none of the above I would go with Majestic.

I gotta go with crimson, it’s the only one i’ve actually played. I went on Majestic after a long time without xbox but after i played a few minutes of it…well my xbox is unplugged now.

I really like Majestic, with Monolith being my favorite DLC map.

Majestic, but Castle is very close to tieing it.

Daybreak has pushed Castle up to the #1 spot for me.

It’s hard to decide for me too. I love small maps as well.

I think the reason why these maps may appeal to us is because it doesn’t have massively open spaces like the Crimson Map pack.

Big enough for good vehicle us and it has enough small spaces to fight mid-range. I think it’s a great combination. The map layouts are awesome. Pleasantly surprised with these maps.

I hated Crimson, Loved Majestic and Im really liking Castle. Im more of asmall maps person but the Catsel maps are really fun I especially love Daybreak and Perdition. Went on a frenzy with a sniper on Daybreak and got a kiltac splatter on Perdition haha so yeah I like them but Majestic was my favorite.

For me, it’s far and away Majestic. Skyline and Landfall play extremely well and all three maps have great art design and atmosphere. That was lacking in most of the on-disc Halo 4 maps which surpised me because 343/Certain Affinity did an amazing job in that regard with the Defiant and Anniversary packs in Reach. I know that’s not essential for gameplay, but a good looking map really helps to excite.

None of the packs went three-for-three with their maps, though. I hate Perdition and Wreckage. Monolith, with its long sightlines for a small map, is dragged down by its DMR/BR/Carbine/LightRifle loadout gametypes. It could be a really fun 4v4/Rumble Pit map with an AR/Suppressor/Storm Rifle set loadout gametype. In its company as a good map being wasted, I love Harvest, but it’s way too big for the 4v4 playlists it’s in. It’s a BTB map through-and-through no matter what they claim it to be.

Based on pre-release impressions, I thought I’d like Daybreak best from Castle, but Outcast seems to be the one I’ve enjoyed playing the most. All the pillars and caves allow for shorter sightlines and more close-range combat in engagement zones (which I’ve missed), but you still have a lot of mobility around the map. It’s similar to Shatter in that way, but seems to feel more fun. I’ve not gotten to play a pure Slayer match on Daybreak yet and that’s what I want to really judge it. Most of my experience with it has been getting shot in the side while I’m running toward an objective, so I think the inherent frustration of that has rubbed off on my impression a bit. Both Daybreak and Outcast fall into Harvest territory for me as well. While they do indeed work for smaller teams because of their base locations, they have enough additional space in other areas that I’d love to see them in BTB.

Castle is my favorite by far. I love all three maps included in the Castle DLC, especially Perdition. The only maps I enjoyed from Crimson & Majestic were Harvest and Landfall.

Crimson - when people wanted more small 4v4 maps, 343i gave them something opposite. Also, these maps are average at best, not even close to intense of Meltdown or Exile. There are also frame rate issues: Wreckage works sluggish on split screen and Shatter isn’t even playable! Harvest seems to be ok, but it’s just too big for 4v4.

Majestic - finally more small maps! And good ones! As good or better than Halo 4’s default trinity (Adrift-Haven-Abandon). It’s a shame Majestic playlist is no more…

Castle - still to early to judge. Right now it’s flooded with too many DMR-fanatics. I’m waiting for things to calm down, so I can relax and play with (almost) BTB sandbox. From first matches I like these maps very much. More than Crimson, but I think that I still prefer 4v4 Majestic gameplay.

I hated Crimson, Majestic was bearable and I haven’t touched Castle.

People are obviously going to favour Majestic and Castle, Majestic brought the best 4v4 maps in the game. Castle brought better 8v8 maps.

Since this game focuses more on mid-long range engagements Castle was always likely to be a favourite.
Since some Halo fans prefer close-mid range 4v4/5v5 engagements, Majestic was bound to be a favourite.
Crimson was too large for 4v4 or even 6v6, they are 8v8 maps.

If 343i decided to get rid of the DMR and LR, Castle may not be as popular as it is.

I haven’t played the Castle map pack yet, but so far I’d have to say that the Majestic map pack is my favourite. I love the smaller, tighter spaces. It feels more like classic Halo and it is exactly what Halo 4 needed at the time.

It’s got to be castle I love all three maps.

I can’t decide between Castle and Majestic. Daybreak and Monolith are my two favourite DLC maps.

Halo 3’s legendary map pack

Seriously, nothing has come close to the amount of fun had playing CTF on avalanche.
