What is wrong with you 343?

So, I heard the ranking system is going to be on Halo Waypoint only. If so, then WTF is the point in even developing it? Do you honestly think we are going to have our computers right next to us so we can check it? Or that we would like to go to Xbox Home, go to waypoint and check? Just put it in the damn game.

“Oh no, I might have to take 5 minutes at the end of my day to see what my progress was!”

> “Oh no, I might have to take 5 minutes at the end of my day to see what my progress was!”

I think his complaint about it being online was that you can’t see your progress and you can’t see other people’s skill level if you play them in matchmaking

I think its stupid that its only on Waypoint.

I only got to 130 for the cool looking number.

I want to show off my skill in-game, not on Waypoint.

They need to implement the feature in-game imo.

The sad thing about their so called ranking system probably won’t even work(much like how BPR failed). At Least in Halo 3 I know I had decent teammates who knew how to play Capture the Flag rather then be a mess of idiocy as it is in Halo 4.

This is NOT confirmed yet. We have not recieved an in depth description of the CSR ranking system.

Even if it is true, it is being done for a multitude of reasons.

It prevents boosting, cheating, de-leving, trading accounts, etc. All problems that resulted from a visible rank.

Just be patient and polite, we don’t know the details.

I really don’t think it’s a big deal as Waypoint is easily accessible. Besides I can understand why 343i did it. Visual ranks promote cheating and manipulation of the system and it promotes harassment.

It’s to make you download the Waypoint App, dudes.

Come on, think a little bit.

If people are so concerned about hackers and cheaters modding their numbers, then who says these cheaters wont do it on waypoint too?

Either way, something’s bound to happen. Just put them in the game, today we have much better technology than we did back in 2007 to check for these hacks.

If Microsoft can ban people for having free map packs, they can sure as hell ban people for cheating a rank system. I guess people these days are just too low on self-esteem to handle a skill-based rank system, even though to casual gamers its just a number and does absolutely no real harm to gameplay.

The reason I want visible ranks is as an indicator of what to expect. I always used someones highest skill as a means to prepare before the game began. Web based ranks are not practical to this end.

All SR130 tells me is the person in question is probably quite pale.

I don’t care a whole lot. Just play the game to have fun!

The argument is that people have less incentive to boost, cheat, etc due to the rank not being visible in game.

People cheat, etc. in order to show off their rank. If it isn’t visible to everyone, they are less likely to do it since, as you said about being banned, is not worth it for an unvisiable rank. However, we do know that people do risk the ban for a visible one ex. Halo 2-3.

Trying something new and before it’s released you hate on it.

With things like Smartglass and such now implemented on the xbox, new ideas like this will be what moves technology further. I wouldn’t mind one day having the whole player list pop up automatically on my tablet with a run-down on their stats, and this new Halo Waypoint ranking system, as I scroll down through the list. Literally takes 2 minutes though to come onto Halo Waypoint (maybe after a hard day of bashing Halo) and check your progression, might give you the opportunity to get some minute exercise in the day.

LOL!

Yeah needs to be ingame, pointless being on waypoint only.

Halo is pointless without a visible trueskill system  Halotracker already has what 343 are going to make and that’s not the most exciting thing either.

That’s not how we use ranks.

Do I have to check other peoples too? How can I even be sure what my teammates skills are if it’s all on waypoint. Maybe a more detailed ranking system on waypoint would work, and just the # online.
