Okay, when i first bought Halo, i always thought “Why is the plasma so weak in these games?”. I think the plasma needs to step up a notch, especially with shield damage. I know shield damage is alright with plasma weapons already, but that needs to be its specialty, so a bit more shield rending would be so much fun for halo 4, provided plasma weapons are in.
Also in Halo Reach, the heavy plasma weapons got worse. How can i empty a full load of shots from the concussion rifle into a guy and not kill him? The heavy plasma weapons need a scary punch into vehicles and need to (not literally) vaporize infantry. I kinda liked the fuel rod gun over all because it was effective against both infantry and vehicles and had a nice rate of fire, coupled with its gravity affected arc that allowed me to fire over some obstacles.
What my ideal Heavy Plasma weapon would be is something sort of like what i just described, but with a lock on that required me to constantly have my reticule on the target. For example, i lock on to a falcon with this weapon, i fire, but it flies off out of my reticule just before the projectile hits. The projectile cannot follow and continues off.
Also, Bungie took a step in the right direction with the Plasma Repeater. The weapons are getting beasty enough, but not in power. Its superheated ionised gas, for goodness sake! It should burn through unshielded infantry.
Also, the Focus Rifle is bad. Very bad. It was very hard to use effectively and when you got a good hit, it didnt kill like snipers should. Beam rifle is where its at, but that too needs to be easier to use. Or that reaper weapon everyones on about.
The Plasma Grenade… i saw how it looks and feels in Halo: CEA, and i can say, you’ve got this one handled, 343.

You do know that it acts exactly the same as it did 10 years ago right? 343 didn’t do anything in that regard.

Yes, i know, but how they made it look, sound and feel is halfway. Make a good mechanic and they ace it.
Lore-wise, they do melt skin and all that jazz.
However, they chose to make them be better against shields in-game to create a sense of balance, though I do agree that the plasma weapons should be a bit stronger than they are now.
They may be good against shields in-game, but after shield are gone they’re useless. They need a buff.
i agree all around, sticky rocks, all other plasma sucks. i never pick up plasma weapons b/c they straight up do not get me kills. 343i this needs to change

i like elites, their character and society from the extended universe and how they look in game, but in game i always wished their weapons lived up to the canon and in canon i wish the humans stopped and asked why they didn’t use these weapons at every given opportunity when they always seem so much more effective that their human counterparts. one or two hits takes down the chief’s shields and a couple more would kill him, but he doesn’t use these weapons given the chance to kill elites with shields?
but in game i feel like after i hose you for about a second your shields are gone, i either have to switch to something else or go for the beat-down, which invariably doesn’t work in reach with jet packs, and armour lock…
so 343I if directed energy weapons, like plasma, are in halo 4, which given we are dealing with forerunners ill assume they are. make them actually worth using.
plasma needs to do higher damage to all targets.
I personally think that the Plasma weapons work fine currently, MM wise. I slight buff to their overall damage wouldn’t be bad, but ultimately, you use them to destroy shields, which they are very efficient at.
If we’re talking Campaign/FF, I’d actually like to see them get a buff. The may appear strong in the Campaign/FF, but this is generally because you as a player are under fire from multiple weapons at once. Individually, they kinda suck.
But yeah, for MM, I feel that they’re fine, though everything did seem to wrk better back in H3 (H3 Plasma Rifle actually did damage, remember?)
I really dont have a problam using plasma weapons at all when i take down someones shields with a plasma repeder i kill them farly quick after with the plasma repeder. ElfishEnvelope3 i can easily kill some one with 4 shots from a fusion cannon its so easy shot at here feet and dont miss. Play a lot of countdown maps in reach and see how esy it is.
Ya i they should if u got it right.
