What is with all the teams of 8 in BTB lately?

IT is ridiculous, last week i played over 20 games and had maybe one game against a team of 8 and yet the past 2 or 3 days i have played against a team of 8 probably 9 out of 15 games. Please give us something to check so that people who like to queue alone can opt out of playing against teams of more than 5 or 6, because otherwise it just ends up a spawn camp with banshee fiesta like http://www.bungie.net/stats/reach/gamestats.aspx?gameid=845297797&player=OverZealousS or http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=845234854&player=OverZealousS
But the worst part of all of it is you get penalized for quitting even if everyone else on your team has quit and you are now alone vs. 2 banshees, 2 snipers, 2 revenants, and a couple of guys with dmrs just to make sure that if the others miss you won’t live longer than 10 seconds. And of course the spawn system shines out again here by spawning way out in the open on many forge world maps with no chance for cover. Just give us lone queuers something, even if it is just a free quit when their team has at least double the number of your players.

What a great system, huh?

No kidding, Saturday night out of 6 games no less than 2 people quit every game… usually before it is halfway over. And the spawn killing that goes on is just pathetic. Add in a 10 sec respawn immunity that last until you fire or something, better yet just have people spawn near cover and not smack dab in the middle of a 50yd square of cover. speaking of hich i just spawned next to 2 enemies on higher ground with no cover then I get sniped before I can even move…

They need to implement big party restrictions in Big Team Battle. Until then, don’t play Big Team Battle.

You cant punish people for having friends, can you? the better solution would be ban party chat get people talking again, I am still playing with the friends I made playing halo 2, pre party chat

Just don’t play team playlists or better yet don’t play Reach altogether.

It is a horrible game and easily the worst of the Halo series and the low population backs that up.

How about you not play an 8-man team playlist if you’r gonna search solo…

are you saying that they need to disallow big parties in BTB??

Frankly, this is a useless response.

The entire point of matchmaking is to put you with people and in teams that you couldn’t form easily on your own.

Yeah, I agree that’s basically the whole point of BTB! That’s a terrible idea!

They certainly shouldn’t disallow large parties in BTB (that’s what the playlist is for…), however they should implement an option for people searching solo to find others searching solo or in smaller parties. It should be in with the other matchmaking preferences, such as chattiness, etc.

I’d concur. BTB is a natural location for big parties, but party size should be taken into account. Perhaps making parties wait until some sort of parity is establish would work. A party of 8 must wait until another party of 8 is available before 7+1 becomes an option before 6+2 becomes an option. Not sure what this would do to the MP ecosystem in BTB, but it would mean that if there’s 4 doubles on a team, the other team will most likely than not be 4 doubles.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

BTB teams don’t bother me

Because I can hide
I can dashboard

Once some party was slaughtering everyone on my team, one guy got a unfriggenbelievable on foot, there were warthogs killing people trying to flee, but I was hiding with the rockets and just watched the whole thing without anyone noticing.

There are almost 20 MM playlist. I rarely search in BTB these days, but when I do it’s because we have too many people to play another playlist without splitting up - so I basically only search in BTB when I have a full team. I personally do not understand the point of searching solo in that playlist of all playlists…even if it is to find people you couldn’t find on your own.

For the most part, I search solo in Big Team, mainly because not many of my friends enjoy it. I however, do enjoy it.

I’d also like to see some sort of party restriction (not completely outlawing them, as that would defeat the purpose of BTB), but to have those who search solo come across those who are also searching solo or in a smaller party.

I haven’t played much Big Team lately, as I’ve been trying out other playlists that I usually don’t play a lot in. But in the few games I’ve had in the past few days, I haven’t come across a full party!

I play BTB solo because to me an essential part of what makes Halo a fun and different game from the others is how well vehicles work for the most part and i don’t know many people that play Halo on my friends list. I think they made the warthog too prone to flipping but it could be a lot worse but that’s beside the point. The point is I love games with a lot of vehicles, and that naturally leads me to the playlist with bigger maps and more people.

I just beat them anyway

If I might interject here, it is preposterous to suggest single people shouldn’t search BTB, the most fun to be had in multiplayer is with the two big teams pitted against each other, and those of use without a preponderance of friends on Xbox live to play with, searching solo is all we can do, and excuse us for not wanting a game to degenerate into a slaughter just because the people who made this game don’t know how to form decent matches. If 343 wants to restore our confidence in this game they need to actually do something about it, or is all we are doing here just discussing things amongst ourselves?

And just to add, I would say I’m for separating the pool of individuals searching from the pool of people in groups, whatever specific mechanism doesn’t really matter to me so long as big groups only get paired with other big groups and single people stop being given such woefully mismatched games (which includes a cessation of all the noobs in a game being thrown together against higher ranking people, even a bunch of singular mythics are still a bunch of mythics, spreading the higher ranks between teams as a rule would be nice)
