What is this object?

My first (hopefully natural) assumption was that it was a seraph but it obviously isn’t and appears to be of forerunner design.

Since all the other pictures seem to take place before the ship crashes i will further assume that this takes place then also.

Any thoughts?

Could be a recovered Forerunner starship or fighter of some sort.

I think it is forerunner technology, not Covenant. Just wanted to get that squared away. It looks vaguely like what I imagined a Cryptum to look like. Or one of the things guarding it. It could also be a ship. I can only guess, though…

Forerunner cryo type pod thingy? (if they even used those…)

For consideration.

“This Forerunner artifact image comes with few details from 343 Industries, but it’s not hard to make some guesses. At first glance, the artifact’s shape calls to mind an ancient sarcophagus, or storage chamber. Could this be the resting place of a dead Forerunner, or even its ancient cryo chamber? Or does this Forerunner artifact have another purpose? 343 isn’t telling, but the developers have hinted that this image relates to the multiplayer storyline.”

In context with what level it probably is on that wouldn’t add up not to mention that is far too big.

Doesn’t look like Warhouse, and as we don’t know what happens in the campaign its possible at some point the UNSC gets a cryptum/cryo pod and takes it aboard a ship or facility.

But in the actual book Cryptum it’s described as being an ovoid and that thing isn’t stout enough to be an ovoid. I would say it is a Cryptum, but

“The great copper and steel vessel, over ten meters high and at least that wide”

And this one isn’t nearly as wide, but it looks plenty tall enough. And it wouldn’t be another rate of Forerunner because Prometheans aren’t that much wider to justify that different a Cryptum than this

Maybe it’s a pod for a sphinx or something.

I’m thinking forerunner cryptum/sarcophagus/cryotube etc.

That or a Warsphinx in hibernate mode, Frankie stated playing with vehicles bigger than that multiplayer mech shown already. Could be a warsphinx we get to pilot?

As soon as I had first seen this image, the only thought that crossed my mind was that has to be what a Cryptum looks like.

I like the thought of a hibernating war sphinx we get to pilot!

Kinda looks like a giant grav-lift from Halo 3

Well it isn’t said that all Cryptums look the same. The size might simply have been to show off the Didact’s status. Also, I think this might be in Spartan Ops.

Could be a forerunner artifact that was recovered and used to power the UNSC Infinity. That area does look kind of like an engine room to me.

Also, on the right hand side of the image seems to be some kind of monitor room. Perhaps the artifact is being monitored or researched for some purpose?

I thought it could well be something like a Cryptum.

Looks more like a dormant War Sphinx to me.

God i need to read the halo books .

Reminds me of a Combine Advisor pod tbh. I think it might be a cryptum that the UNSC has recovered but cannot open. Maybe the librarian.

First off it looks too sleek to be Forerunner IMO. But since it is almost certainly from that age or of that level of technology, and it reminds me of the ancient human ships descriptions, I am going to say some form of ancient human device. Maybe the human equivalent of a cryptum? Or the ship that inspired the seraph?

I hope its a war sphinx

Its 100% Foreruner i think its either Bornsteller’s/Didacts Cryptim or War Spinx

Thanks for the replies guys but Cryptums are like over 50 feet tall, It can’t be a slipspace pod since those are small enough to be carried (they were in onyx).

I don’t think it is a war sphinx but that is a more sensible suggestion i suppose.
