What is the VS CPU achievement?

Sorry to ask such a basic question but would someone please tell me what the VS CPU achievement is all about?

You have to complete 10 Weekly PVE Challenges. As you get around 12 PVE challenges per week, this is easily doable within a couple of hours.

I get them quite a bit - usually when I very skilfully wipe out a Lance with loads of headshots or something. What does it stand for? Is it to do with defeating the AI? And what are PVEs? Sorry for the basic Qs!

No worries about the basic questions, lol. PvE isn’t a something but a situation. Where PvP stands for Player versus Player, PvE stands for Player versus Environment, meaning the games AI.
