I don’t know but start a new season month and month doesn’t help with the experience. When you had your ranking and see through see you improved it. I think is better stay with the ranking and I the people is concern about the championship ranking monopoly that ranking should reset each month and all the champions and onix go back to onix 1500 and play each other to see who is champion that month.
There’s a lot of reasons. It discourges boosting, deranking, account selling, and provides a nice rank reset. I hated h3 ranking system because I peaked within a month and knew my rank would never change again.
It shouldn’t affect your matchmaking experience much in terms of gameplay. Also, if you’re an Onyx 3 one month you’ll probably end up close to the same rank the next. So it really doesn’t change much.
The idea is to create an incentive for players to keep up and have to re-earn their ranks month after month.
I hate it because of the placement matches. I rank Gold every month, and wander from Gold 1 to Gold 6. Every month. I know my skill level, it’s Gold. I’m not going to suddenly get better. I’ve played hundreds of games, but yet every month I get to be the test monkey for higher level players. I love getting stomped the first couple weeks every month just so Diamonds can see if they are still better than Golds. I’m not the best, never will be, don’t care. I just want competitive matches against people my skill level. It gets annoying real quick when the unranked guy on the other team goes 17-2. It was ok the first month, but I just don’t see the point of rank resets 12 months a year, forever. Rant over haha.
Axial tilt.
To prevent account selling and boosting honestly.
If they didn’t reset ranks every so often, players would boost accounts up, sell them off and repeat. Plus, players in Champion would reach an incredibly high ELO that it would be near impossible for newer players to place into Champion because the threshold is so high.
