Give me a good reason why Halo 4 SHOULDN’T have the TrueSkill system Halo 3 has.

This’ll be fun.

But in all seriousness you shouldn’t try to randomly start arguments on the forums. Its not cool. (And I think its against the rules. :P)

Because Halo 2’s original ranking system was better. :stuck_out_tongue:

What I’m trying to say is why did they not add the ‘skill’ ranking system Halo 2 and 3 have? I honestly do not see ONE reason why they shouldn’t add it in.

It was plagued with boosters and cheaters, which made it flawed.

Happy?

And yes, all ranking systems will have that. But the “incentive” given by skill ranks, and the fact that they are supposed to show skill made it worse. Each rank became less effective with more boosters in them.

Boosters, Derankers, Alt accounts, the Halo black market, it didn’t work for people in the middle ranged skill.

With that logic, why do games use ranking systems at all? What is the need if people are just going to worry about ‘boosters’ and ‘cheaters’?

To match players evenly by skill. Thats the purpose.

And Halo 4 has that. As of now, they just aren’t showing it with visible ranks. But you are still matched by skill and skill is tracked. They never said they weren’t having a ranking system, last I knew. They announced a progression system, and said the ranking system was still in development. That means it could be after the game. Or they can finish it before it.

So you guys are by the philosophy that if the best available is still flawed, having none at all is better than dealing with the 10% who are easily ignored anyway?

From what I know, Halo 4’s ranking system is like Halo Reach’s, an XP system with no actual level of skill, meaning someone of a really high rank has the same chance to be ranked with someone that just started the game as anyone else. This system doesn’t sort anything by skill at all.

It was very inaccurate. \

Basing someones INDIVIDUAL SKILL off of TEAM PERFORMANCE is not accurate at all.

Boosters and cheaters arent the real problem, the accuracy of the system is.

If you’re good at the game, boosters are not a problem I can guarantee you that.

The ones who think it’s bad are usually bad players who struggled their entire Halo career. Just click on anyone’s Halo 3 rank and you will see the correlation.

If you are honestly good at the game boosters are a plain joke and they barely influence anything. And besides … boosters are everywhere, they will abuse every single system there is.

I said in another thread that only 2% of the player base are meant to get to level 50. Not only that but playing with people who are of different skill, better or worse influences YOUR skill, and that is flawed. Alt accounts, derankers and boosters influence the OVERALL skill rank in a negative way. They skew not only their skill but anyone’s skill that they encounter.

Halo 4’s ranking system uses an updated XP system, like Reach. However, there is also a ‘rank’ not visible to players, which is similar to highest skill, which will be used to evenly set up matches between players who have similar skill. So no, it is not completely like reach.

I don’t mind a skill-based ranking system. What I do mind is your rank being shown publicly. Just have it so that you can only see your own rank, and leave it at that. Publicly-displayed ranks encourage a host of bad behaviors such as boosting, deranking, illicit account sales, and poor behavior (people insulting others based on rank, ect); and there’s no upside to make all of that -Yoink- worthwhile.

I don’t see any reason to give you a reason for that. Since as far as I know Halo 4 uses invisible True Skill like Reach.

This is about being matched with equally skilled players and not epeen waving correct?

If anyone’s epeening, it’s you on trying to be hard with that post. Yes, it’s about matching up with equally skilled players, moron.

The only thing i was mad about is getting De-ranked

If you get noob teams, and getting spawn kill almost all the time, wich ahppends to me, you shouldn’t get de ranked.
