I saw one comment by a 343 employee. It is redoculous. Especially with ms support reffering people to 343. They have no way to get help. They took my money and I have yeg to receive the product. They are violating consumer laws.

Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
Fit for purpose means both their everyday purpose, and also any specific purpose that you agreed with the seller (for example, if you specifically asked for a printer that would be compatible with your computer)
Goods sold must also match any sample you were shown in-store, or any description in a brochure.

Software is not a good, nor is it defined as such under the stated Act. That’s where you get into a mess of things. Software, in the game space, is actually still owned by the company that sells it. They are selling you the right to play it, not the software itself. Now in the terms of service, there are oh so many lines that refer to a “product” that doesnt function as designed, so they’re protected there too.
Point is, saying that they are violating some law is not a constructive way to approach the problem. Why not find mod on the forums (they are listed everywhere) and send them a PM directly with your issue? At least that way, you know that they read it. Now whether or not they take action on it is in their hands but at least you did everything you could to resolve the matter.

Well argued Sir.
I may take your advice about sending a PM to a mod. Didn’t know this was an option.

PM’ing a moderator with support queries isn’t the best thing to do - all the moderators on the forum are volunteer, they don’t actually work for 343. It’s best to keep support queries on the forum so that any answers or suggestions by 343 or other community members can be shared amongst the community.
If there’s a topic already open that matches your query, it’s generally best to add your reply to an existing topic stating what your issue is and what you have tried so far.

Normally I would agree with you, but when thread after thread goes unanswered or unacknowledged, the last resort is to contact a mod or employee directly. Just because this is a forum doesnt mean we shouldnt be able to freely contact the staff about questions or concerns. If they dont want people PM’ing them, then they should be more proactive with their feedback in the threads themselves.
I manage a team of engineers and like i always tell them, if you wait around for someone to help you, you’ll never get helped. You must be proactive but in a respectful and tactful way.
I hope that same philosophy isnt stifled here simply because this is a forum.

Many misconceptons.
Maybe in the US the law is that bad, but in other parts of the world there’s such a thing as consumer protection laws and software is not above the law.
Anyone can write any “Terms of services” they want, it doesn’t make them legal. Someone could say that you are giving up your firstborn by accepting it, and, guess what, they wouldn’t be able to do anything about it even if you did accept it.
I was able to sue a bank for illegal interest rates in the past, even though there was a contract with my signature on it explicitly stating them.

Not misconceptions, reality. In reality, how many consumers have the money to front for a lawyer to sue a business that can hire a brigade of lawyers? Not many. So in reality, there isnt much you can do unless you’re able to start a class action lawsuit. But if we’re starting a class action lawsuit with game connectivity at the heart of it, i think we have our priorities misaligned

I think these types of arguments stem from ignorance about your own rights.
Many countries might have small causes courts, or agencies specifically for consumer protection. Consulting them usually costs nothing. And there’s no need for a “brigade of lawyers”, corporations aren’t above the law. If they are in the wrong, then there’s nothing they can do.

The moderators are all volunteers. We have zero affiliation with MS or 343i. We can help you with forum problems only. We have no access or abilities to help you with in game issues or problems. That is what this forum is used for. 343i does this read this forum. They may not reply, but they are present and are working on legitimate problems presented here. As far as being more proactive, if I had to guess, I’d say that they can’t be omnipresent, as we would like for several reasons. It’s a tough balance. How much time do you spend on the forums versus actually doing things like fixing, creating, etc.
