What is the point of the Scout Warthog?

Why did they add the Scout Hog? There is really no point. It’s useless offensively and the Mongoose covers basically any other use for it.

More armored mongoose that can block door ways.
They have their uses. Mostly in warzone assault though.

I think it’s one of 343s way to cheap out on adding content.

I’ve never thought about using it to block doorways. I suppose that could work. Now I just like to call them Fat Mongooses because that’s what they basically are.

  • block access in warzone/warzone assault - cheap way to drive around map and crush weaker bosses - be yolo and ram people with your super armor (takes 2 scorpion shells to kill oni scout hog lol)

I’ve wanted them for a long time! I think it’s awesome there in the game, it would be cool to see some seats in the back though.

People who think it’s useless don’t know how to use it lol, which is ok because it isn’t obvious.

First of all, you can scout with it. Sometimes it is invaluable to be able to see what’s on the other side of the map, or bait out enemies to see what they have. A scout warthog, especially the higher level ones are very heavily armored and fast. My Oni scout (which are the main ones I keep now; I have about 50) took two direct wraith shots and still lived to drive away.

The fact that they are cheap in reqs (Oni hog is one req as well, I believe), they are much better than a mongoose for traversing the map.

Recall the fact that they are heavily armored and fast. You can use a scout as a bullet sponge. The average player, when they see your scout, will for some reason divert their attention to you and/or keep shooting you. This is invaluable in many situations. For example, in the early minutes of a warzone match, try being aggressive with a scout hog in the center base. Just do doughnuts and try to ram people. If you’re facing the average player, most of the team is going to try killing you while they are losing the base.

Hope that helps.

Edit: And like ElementalRunner said, it is a cheap way to kill weaker bosses such as elites. Why spend at least two req points on a plasma or forerunner weapon when you can use one point for a scout.

I guess I should keep a few ONI Scout Hogs then. Never knew they had that much armor. The endless Mongoose reskins are an entirely different story.

I don’t even like mongooses lol. They are only a last resort when I need pure speed with low req points.

I guess it’s easier to get splatters with it. Anyway since the mongoose nerf I have only got 3 or 4 mongooses and only have the cert for the base one so I use scout hogs instead.

You can use it early in the game to distract enemys. This can give your Team valuable seconds for capturing a base.

You know maybe some of us want our armor to match our warthog , seriously, mobile weapon platforms are passé, and last season . Do you know how embarrassing it is to be seen in a conveyance from last season , that’s out of style . Not to mention that he could be blown up in a minute so the extra armor is the luxury Spartan can have when blocking the flag and/or entryway .

Only God and 343 know

The point is to drive around the top of the spire in the beginning of warzone assault and get 5 splatters and 2 “accidental” betrayals

To pad the R.E.Q. packs so you have to buy more.

Because it was probably the easiest thing to make in the entire game. Take the Warthog asset, remove the turret.
“Hey Jerry I got the Scout Warthog made”
“What’s that?”
“A Warthog with no turret.”
“Great idea! Everyone will love it.”

Lol.

But still, if it can take 2 wraith shots and survive, then the warthog’s true anti air role is realized. Usually banshees destroy hogs really quick right?

Here’s my logic.

Wraiths take two shots from a scorpion to be destroyed (or is it 3) and vice versa. It takes several (5-7) shots from a banshee to destroy any tank. So if a tank can’t kill you in 2 shots, that means that your warthog, whose chaingun is a Light Anti Aircraft Gun, can take 5-7 shots from a banshee to destroy. Which means you can become the leader of the anti banshee brigade.

EDIT:Didn’t realize that it had no gun lol. But still, you get the idea.

It’s a Mongoose that is less likely to get you sniped out of it.

So all scouts better than mongooses and Oni scout best right thanks
