What is the news on old H3 forge maps?

I love forge, and I have made a lot of maps and gametypes in both Halo 3 and Reach, and while I can see why having the Reach content impossible to transfer (just with it being a completely different game), will there be a way to transfer (possibly via the file share system) Halo 3 forged maps and gametypes over to the MCC’s Halo 3?

Sorry if this was already answered at some point, but I have been stuck in the cesspool that is B.net’s Destiny forums for a while now.

Hmm, good question. But I doubt it. I believe nothing will carry over from the Xbox 360 versions.

Most likely to be so, but we never know!

Either way, I would most likely be fixing up those maps, so what better way to fix them up than to rebuild from scratch with Forge 2.5? (didn’t like H4’s forge, and considered it Forge 1.9 with Reach being Forge 2.0).

They be dead.

I’m afraid we’ll have to remake old Halo 3 (and 4) forge maps and custom games entirely from scratch. I don’t think anything will transfer over. I personally can’t wait to relive old Halo 3 memories and experience some new ones with Halo 2 Anniversary’s much improved forge and (hopefully improved, though I am worried given Reach and Halo 4) custom games.

Ive already started delegating people to work on specific maps and gamemodes. My guess is that the game will have a file search system so you would be able to find your old maps recreated by someone.

This isn’t correct, Dan Ayoub simply misunderstood the question. While the question was asking if Forge maps could carry over, Dan Ayoub thought it meant “Will Forge be available in Halo 3 and Halo 4?”.

We have already got confirmation that Forge maps will NOT carry over from the Xbox 360, nothing will.

Would you have a link to where they confirm it ISN’T going to carry over? Just because this is the only official proof I have seen on the matter one way or the other so far

Well, logic can carry us through this issue. The original game data is on your 360 hard drive. Unless you want to somehow link those together, they can’t transfer it that way. The original Halo 3/4 servers are separate from MCC, which has dedicated servers. So there will be no transferring of data that way.

So, unless 343 does something miraculous, preserving saved files, tags, creation records, and downloaded maps, all from a previous generation on completely different servers, I can’t see it happening.

Aren’t the file shares still up for Halo 3?
So, it isn’t much of a stretch that if file shares were to be implemented into the MCC that you could download the maps to the MCC version of the game via this 343s own site.
Converting the data from one to the other shouldn’t be that difficult, hell, even MineCraft lets people transfer their old-gen worlds to current gen.

Still, not even remotely a deal breaker (as I even said I am completely fine with remaking my maps / gametypes), but I really doubt it would be as difficult as you think it would be.

I don’t think its likely just because of those technical difficulties and the fact that there are so many millions of files to be handled. Maybe they could arrange an individual online file transfer system like you said but I feel like it would have been mentioned by now.

By all means I hope they find a way of doing it, though.

This is actually a question I am curious to hear an answer to. Seeming Halo 3 is running on the original engine, and the way Xbox 360 files work, it would not be hard to migrate data over from a developer standpoint. I imagine the only reason in not doing so is to prevent the modded maps that were created on the Xbox 360, which would really be a shame, as I doubt we’ll ever be able to relive the memories of old maps that we played on Halo 3 such as Fat Kid. Some of the other, more complicated maps, may be of too much effort to recreate on the Master Chief Collection, so I am really curious as to see whether or not we are going to have a transfer system.

Guys, no map will be carried over. I seriously can not comprehend why and HOW people got the idea otherwise. These forums are littered with misinformation and it’s disgusting. It worries me about the community, actually, because this was confirmed like day 1.

Don’t believe me? Okay. Find out in 2 weeks

I can’t find forge on my halo mcc does anyone know why?
