I couldn’t quite fit it into the title, but to you, what is the most important aspect of Halo? What one thing, in your opinion, would make or break the game for you and befoul the title “Halo?”
For me, it’s the music. If the campaign doesn’t have a memorable soundtrack, then the campaign to me just isn’t memorable. Halo 2 had the best soundtrack of all the Halos. No doubt.
The music is what brought me to Halo. I listened to some tracks before I even got and Xbox. But seeing how freakin awesome the gameplay and story was I bought one just for Halo.
For me it’s all about multiplayer. It has to be balanced and have a depth to the gameplay that allows more skilled players to shine while also requiring team work.
Oh man, this is a tough question! I guess if I just HAD to pick something, I would say a good multiplayer, because that is what I will primarily be playing.
But I mean there is just so much to a Halo game! The story needs to be interesting, the music of course needs to be top notch. Coop is also a must! There is not much more satisfying than beating the game on legendary with a few friends, with some skulls on. Forge is also bound to be fun too. I plan to make a new “rocket race” where players spawn with the thruster pack thing armor ability and race (with unlimited use obviously) around custom made race maps, maybe with some weapons thrown in to make it interesting.
I’m pretty pumped for this game though. I’ll be playing it for a good long time.
In terms of what makes Halo…Halo, it needs a top notch campaign that lives up to the others.
In terms of whats going to keep me coming back, it needs a top notch MP that’s balanced as much as possible (unlike that piece of crap CoD) and is fun.
Campaign/story, the story of halo is amazing its why im a fan of it to this day, love the mystery.
Soundtracks, again i love how mysterious they can be add to the wonder of the game, and add the mystery to the forerunners, also other soundtracks are very eerie and creepy like the mausoleum suite, that soundtrack was so creepy i loved it.
The cryptic-ness, i loved how cryptic halo has been from the ARG’s to the terminals in halo 3 and even the soundtracks like the mausoleum suite, black tower etc. Again It really adds to the mysteriousness of the game and a lot of curiosity, what was more myterious and eerie than standing in a dead quiet deserted forerunner corridor reading the terminals with the creepy backwards voice’s and all you can here is the humming of the terminal. To me thats the pure classic feel of halo one of the best experience’s of the game, i hope 343i remember to keep these thing into consideration.
I don’t see any one aspect that would break or make the game for me. If the campaign sucked, the game would be ruined on that part. If the multiplayer sucked, the game would be ruined on that part. The good thing about that is that nothing really makes or breaks the game for me unless it’s completely unplayable. The bad thing is that chances are some part will always fail which leaves me disappointed. But no, there certainly isn’t one aspect that is more important than the other.
Me.
If a tree falls in a forest and no one’s around to see it, does it make a sound?.. It’s still an if no matter which way you put it.
When I see a tree fall in forest, I hear the crackle of fibres and thud of impact, I feel the rushing of the air, I see the scattering chaos of critters and it is not an if.
Most important to me in campaign (not listed in any particular order):
*AI (most important of all!).
Enemies that don’t cheat yet do well and allies that look up to me as a leader instead of trying to get things done by themselves and dying as a result.
*Good prioritization for AI. If there’s 7 Grunts fighting 6 Flood with rocket launchers, and I’ve just arrived, should the Grunts start attacking me or should they be focused on the Flood?
*Game encourages creativity
*Replayability, including playing encounters differently
*Consistency throughout the game (including cutscenes)
*Game does not interfere or be a jerk by stealing kills; it’s cooperative
*The player. The only time I enjoyed playing as a Spartan/human was in CE. Every other Halo game made him weak and underpowered
*Functionality. CE hog had first person passenger seat, unit health on hud; CE sniper had night vision and silenced effect; CE, ODST banshee had hover; CE, ODST scorpion had Co-op passenger seats
*Immersive
