Saw some topics abou helioskrill variants in hammer storm update.
Apperantelly, that is a bad thing. But why?
Some people are saying it’s bad, this because there used to be only one variant of Helioskrill.
The only way to unlock it was by completing all the Halo campaigns on MCC (except H3:ODST) on Legendary.
Now because of the new variants that are coming the original Helioskrill won’t be that special anymore to those players.
Because people put a lot of time and effort into getting that armor from the MCC collection. We did that because
A) we thought it looked cool
B) it somewhat looks like an elite armor
C) to say we have it.
If I would have know that they were going to do this I would not have done the hardship to get it. It was something I cherish, Something that took time and was not given out in the RNG REQ system. You knew who had it and what they did to get it. Just like the Achilies armor. Now that anyone can get it, All the effort I put into it is now completely useless in a game that still has a great player count.
This also makes me wonder what they will do in the future. Should I put the time and the effort into the Achilies armor just for them to do the same thing?

They will still have their exclusive Helioskrill variant, the new variants included in packs look noticeably different and they’re legendary reqs. Getting the variant from MCC will still probably be the quickest way for most players to get it anyway. It’s kind of stupid that they seem to think that this will now happen to Achilles. There’s a big difference between Helioskrill and Achilles and I really shouldn’t have to elaborate for anyone who bothers to reply to this
People should naturally be against cross game rewards anyway, having to buy an extra game to unlock a piece of armour? I know most players will have MCC regardless but still

The Helioskrill set was earned, not purchased, not randomly dropped, earned by completing the single player campaigns in the MCC on Legendary. Some players are upset because these new variants devalue the effort it took to get the base armor. It’s entirely silly to get this worked up over cosmetics but wearing the set was a badge of honor, a symbol of effort and devotion to the franchise.
Well you see, some people think that cosmetic items in video games have magical powers that make them cooler if they’re more difficult to obtain. It has nothing to do with liking the cosmetic items, its all about the fictional status they think those items hold. So 343 could make a helmet that looks like a set of floppy baboon balls but if they made it insanely difficult to get people would crawl over their own mothers to scratch one out of the dirt so they can feel like a pretty snowflake completely ignoring the point of aesthetics and then would fight to the death to preserve their prize against anyone else who might threaten their elite status.
I know it won’t be free.
They more than likely added some hard requirements for them.
