for the past week i have been seeing a lot of drama regarding the mangler in competitive games, what is it doing that makes people want it to be removed?
The one shot melee move is annoying for some players. It’s also strong.
I don’t think it needs a nerf tho. I just think it needs to spawn in less or centerilize it more to make it more of a power weapon than a regular pick up. We also need more weapons. Very little to choose from. Which is why you end up facing the mangler with the br a lot

The biggest problem with the Mangler is that it is considered a pistol. As such it spawns too frequently for the power it gives the player.
If a coordinated team is able to gain map control they can all run around with Manglers. Given how quick they can kill in close-mid range this is a huge issue.

It beats the BR close range in ranked, so the mlg types don’t like it.

It’s a really fun weapon to use but the competitive dudes don’t like fun so they want it removed

Competitive/Pro players are such an anomaly to me. I love balance as much as the next person and I even think that the One shot + melee instant kill for the Mangler is a bit too powerful relative to its spawn rate, but you’d think that the best of the best players would adapt to and play around different balancing factors rather than buff/nerf/ban something.

The problem is skilled players against skilled players gets frustrating because the mangler is a ganreteed kill in the hands of a skilled player unlike the BR.
