What is the big threat for Halo 5?

There hasn’t been an admirable threat since the Flood. I haven’t gotten that sense of danger, and quite frankly, the Didact and his Prometheans do not intimidate of Scare me. I also missed the dynamic where It was Flood vs all. Brutes and loyalists vs Elites and Humans. At one point, the Covenant were fighting against the Prometheans, but now they are all buddy buddy. Even with their joined forces, I still feel no threat level. How long has it been since Earth has been chilling without any worry. Last I checked, the composer was a temporary threat, but still kinda boring.

A question though, what do you think the Guardians are for? Are they just some mega devastating weapon used by forerunners? All in all, I just want a bigger sense of villainy in Halo 5 and more twists throughout the Story. Also who else miss the Prophets, even though they have been nearly eradicated?

Judging from pre order numbers? Black ops 3.

Battlefront isn’t exactly being viewed well by anyone who researches it, abd falloyt isnt even MP.

When the ps4 fanboys said that the majority of cod kids were on xbox one I didn’t believe them, but now …

Whoa did anyone even read, this isn’t a game vs game thread?

This is what happens when you don’t actually read the first post. Ouch.

Yeah that was dirty.

the only thing I can think of canon wise what the guardians could be would be that they were the weapons the Forerunners used to wipe out the Precursors. It would kinda make sense

only if they put all the power and resources into the domain and the domain was only used during the Forerunner/Precursor war. But sadly, that’s speculation.

If you didn’t feel a threat in Halo 4, I don’t know what to tell you. The Didact constantly curbstomps Chief, the INFINITY was nearly overrun by Covenant and Prometheans, the Covenant rampaged the Installation '03 base, then everybody was composed in horrifically painful, close-up ways by the Didact in an instant, then the same horrible thing happens to the entire metropolis of New Phoenix on Earth. And the icing on the cake was Cortana’s mental state was deteriorating, becoming more and more of a liability to Chief (I will not allow you to leave this planet, anyone?).

So yeah, I think the threats in Halo 4 were threatening.

Lol yeah. Is being first in the thread really worth your post being embarrassingly irrelevant?

I think it’s a safe bet that the Guardians were created to combat flood. That’s where my money’s at. I’ll have to see their weapon systems in action before making a truly educated guess.

Also, I do miss the prophets. Especially after reading Broken Circle.

I did read it, but BO3 sales are more interesting.

Don’t get me wrong, Didact is one overpowered dude. He may have too much power, get rid of him then what? Get rid of a flood spore, is equally if not more important lol. Also Didact isn’t invincible, he had been wounded in H4 at the end and in Escalation. The Prometheans will fall without a main leader.

Blue team and and some other assistance is enough to keep Didact at bay. I guess I’m just a sucker for flood, they also had their eerie music themes. When we’ve been though the flood, the Covenant look cute compared to them, almost even Prometheans.

CORTANA!!!

I was thinking the same exact thing. If someone doesn’t see the threat in H4 then nothing in H5 will present a threat. You explained it perfectly.

I wonder, even with the Brutes return in Escalation, it seems like they’re still not making an appearance. We haven’t seen any weaponry from them yet. Though they may not be retuning, I would believe that we will be getting insurrectionists in return.

The first time we fight humans, not because we shot up our AI companions and betrayed them.

I’m half expecting the biggest threat will appear to be Precursors. And that the awakening of the Guardians preludes their return.

That or we’ll keep dealing with promies. Because we know the flood is out.

Indigestion and a faulty waste disposal system.

THE NUMBERS MASON! WHAT DO THEY MEAN!?

Anywho, I think the biggest thread IN Halo 5 will be dealing with ONI, Locke, the Warden, etc. I don’t think this will be a big galactic scale end-of-the-world struggle, but a more personal one for chief. You can have a good story that revolves around a personal mission instead of having to save the world again.

I also think you’l see whispers of flood activity but nothing concrete until Halo 6: Electric Boogaloo.

Wait so a race of primordial beings trying to find eternal peace by destroying all life in the galaxy doesn’t scare you, but a piranha plant does? Where is the logic behind that? The biggest threat to halo 5 is people who say that there are no threats left to fight seriously; how is it that the more human approach to a villain scares off halo fans from the franchise more than a made up stereotypical monster.

inb4 sprint and spartan abilities

The Warden Eternal looks like a huge threat. But this is the Halo 2 of the new saga, Halo 6 will have the real meat

I’d say this looks pretty threatening.

Biggest threat: halo 4 like drop off in player base.
