What is on your wishlist for Halo 5 campaign?

Halo 4 has been my favorite campaign so far. The Graphics are incredible. The prologue looked like real people. The missions were all brilliant, full of action, held together by an amazing story line. For me the campaign was near perfect.

However I would like to see some changes in Halo 5 (apart from the storyline of course)

Top 6

  • Improved atmospheres. Halo 3 ODST did this incredibly well. However I feel Halo 4 did not. It felt far to scripted which made for a rather crappy atmosphere. e.g. The Ghost run on mission 3 was a great concept, but was not pulled off very well. There was no real climax and it felt far to scripted.

  • Less Buttons. This applies to Spartan Opps too, or whatever replaces it. It slows the gameplay down so much. The animation looked good, though was incredibly overused.

  • Being shot slows you down. I can understand the logic but it makes speed running slightly harder which is something I and other very much enjoy doing. I think it needs removing in Campaign.

  • More classic skulls found throughout the campaign. I enjoyed searching for skulls and terminals in Halo CEA (was not fortunate enough to play CE). The terminals in H4 were far to easy to find and you never really had to go out of your way to find one. Having some classic skulls such as Boom and Bandanna would make the campaign so much fun xD

  • Better rewards for doing the campaign. You can complete the last two missions of the H3 campaign and be rewarded with 90 gamer score (correct me if I am wrong). That is 10 gamer score more than completing all 8 H4 missions on normal (not including the completion achievement). Completing the campaign on Laso gives you an emblem…

  • An ending to remember. I will always remember the scene with Cortana and chief. However I can only attempt to forget the build up to it with the whole “press x to plant grenade” thing. IMO that was my biggest issue with the H4 campaign. Basically I need a warthog run. In fact, give me a Warthog run and I’m happy, forget everything else. Just give me a Warthog run.

What is on your wishlist?

I just don’t want Halsey to be treated like absolute -Yoink- for the entire game now that it seems like she’ll be playing a major role. They already lopped off her arm and shot her, if it gets worse that that…

I believe you’ll find this thread relevant to your interests.

How does scripting make for a “crappy atmosphere”? ODST has scripted events and confrontations with enemies, yet you’ve just said it’s the best for atmosphere. Things like the Elites and Grunts at the start of Requiem that are scripted to stagger towards you and die from their injuries added beautifully to the atmosphere and the characterisation of the Covenant, I thought. The same thing goes for that Jackal that leaps onto the scientist in Composer, it’s a very good display of how animalistic and ferocious these creatures are.

Again, how on earth does scripting have any negative effect here? Halo CE and 3’s Warthog run were both heavily scripted to the point where I can visualise in my head every panel that explodes in what order during the latter Warthog Run, yet I still love playing it and think that the atmosphere in it was great - the same way that I love playing the Ghost Run at the end of Forerunner because it feels frantic and you’re constantly in danger. It looks like Requiem itself is being torn apart from under you with massive chunks of land breaking apart, it reminded me a lot of Bornstellar’s description of the Halo Ring splintering in on itself during the battle of the Capital at the end of Halo: Cryptum.

Key word there is ‘felt’ - it’s not about making it non-scripted. It’s about making it feel non-scripted. Enemies aren’t actually smart, they’re supposed to seem smart.

Campaign? I just want a better MM.

Make changes to the prometheans’ personalities. Crawlers need to operate as a pack and knights need to be aggressive instead of passive. I am looking at the annoying teleport to safety feature when I say passive. I would prefer the difficulty level of taking down knights, especially higher ones, akin to taking down a mini Brute Chieftain.

I want legendary to be as difficult as halo 2’s. Legendary is not supposed to be for just anyone, I beat halo 4’s legendary in a pathetically short amount of time. Halo 2’s took me forever.

I do enjoy warthog runs, but I would prefer a boss fight like against Tartarus. Either would be better than a “press LT” scene (does anything even happen if you don’t?)

As you said, less scripted feel. The super mammoth level was incredibly painful for me.

Impressive explosions and debris. The lich destruction and the covie ship destruction on mission 1 made me want to cry they were so cringe worthy

Brutes, flood, and Yanme’e (providing their AI’s are massively improved for brutes and Yanme’e)

Elites as worthy opponents again.

Scarabs

Easter eggs galore, including skulls

Missions that are dedicated to vehicles. I want a chain hog with a rocket marine against difficult odds. Or maybe a troop hog filled to the brim with rocket marines, I did that once in halo 3 and it was the most fun I’ve ever had with a vehicle.

Possibly a split campaign story. Like what we had in halo 2. I think it could be pretty fun playing as a Spartan IV, an elite (even if it was a bad guy fighting humans), or even a brute would be a very interesting take on the haloverse.

And lastly, Covie Ships that actually have shields and are worth more than just their weight.

There we go. Some of my list of major demands. And those are just the demands for Campaign, I won’t even get into firefight, MM, or the horrendous Spops.

Skulls
Epic music
Warthog run
Scoring.
That is all.

Theatre for all thinks.

War Sphinx battle would be a nice touch.

I’m in a bony mood so here’s my wishlist:

  • I like to see a return of skull hunting.

  • Return of the anniversary skulls like bandanna and grunt funeral skull

  • custom skulls for campaign like in firefight.
Players can make the enemy’s more challenging or give you more health.
however players won’t get any achievements or rewards with this skull.

  • oh and skulls in Spartan ops

The Flood, Brutes, the good Elites, and the multi-factioned battles that would come with them.
I mean, come on, there’s no real reason to not have the Arbiter and his Elites, and the Flood can still be worked back in somehow.
