Keep getting asked this, here’s a video that showcases it well enough.
Halo 5. It’s missing Halo 5. And Crowbcat is a grifter.
While an entertaining look at how awful Infinite has been, what about the video highlights what’s missing from MCC? Proximity chat?
What exactly are they grifting? The value of 343’s word?
Dodger doesnt think, only consumes.
-Proximity Voice Chat
-Veto/Voting System
-Campaign Matchmaking (Was in Original Halo Reach, should be included for all titles)
Website file share, quick menus, pre/postgame lobbies, voice/personality based preferences in matchmaking (believe Reach introduced this).
Proxy chat
Party up
Better pre/post game lobbys
Original menus
i would love original menus at least just the backgrounds they had. you know what i actually want them to remove from mcc, those dumb poses, just want’em gone completely.

Commendations
Maps (Affinity, Chateau, Eden Minor, Enclosed, Midas, Precipice, Pulse, Renova, Treasury)
100% to the return of the OG menus; 100% pointless addition with the poses
Don’t forget the glorious SHWATGUNS
- Main Menu backgrounds from H1 through H4 added as options in video background customizations + menu UI rework/rebuild to Reach’s UI. Reach UI was (IMO) the culmination of UI for Halo titles, and (IMO) nothing else has come close to dethroning it since.
- Campaign and Spartan Ops matchmaking (irrespective of various opinions on quality of Spartan Ops)
- VETO OPTIONS (of the Reach variety)
- Return of the File Browser
TBH, when it comes to bringing those into MCC… I more lean towards the concept of 343i holding a community creative contest; people utilize the official mod tools to create maps with those layouts, the winning submissions of which are then integrated into the base game like the Halo Online maps were with MCC Halo 3.
Also agree with the removal of the customizable poses.
I like this way of thinking. It would be cool if the same applied to the already existing Forge World maps in MCC (Asylum, Ellul, Imago, Kingdom, Pinnacle, Select, Synapse, Think Twice, Uncaged, Unconquered). Then we wouldn’t have to look at the drab grays all the time. And maps that are remakes of one’s from earlier Halos (Asylum, Pinnacle) could look like they did there, albeit with a ‘Reach’ coat of paint.
You have rapidly become my new favorite person on these here forums.
They could do it with cosmetics too if they really wanted. Warframe is a pretty good example of community cosmetics being introduced into the main game across PC & Console.
With regards to Asylum in particular…
- Center structure replaced by substantially modified Tyrant AAA mount (two ramps up, four symmetrically-aligned doors instead of two unaligned doors, cover on ramp removed), might include the artillery cannon itself in order to cut off direct LOS to opposing base
- Upper ring of center structure/Tyrant mount lined with individual recharging energy barriers instead of solid walls (less emphasis on camping top mid
- Side structures connected to center structure turned into Covenant structures; two power conduits run beneath the walkways
- Exposed side ramps turned into UNSC scaffolding
- Main Red/Blue bases turned into entrances/foyers/access points for UNSC prefabricated structures; players can’t/aren’t supposed to access the top of the main bases anyway in standard gameplay so the overhang is removed, pillars are subsequently replaced by waist-high walls
Concept: A captured (or post-war acquisition via market/tech sharing) Tyrant artillery cannon set up in a quarry. The two additional Covenant structures are auxiliary buildings (one structure feeds additional plasma into the weapon, the other is an auxiliary heat dump - this translates into one emitting a blue color and the other glowing red) capable of considerably increasing weapon performance.
UNSC/ONI engineers/technicians have subsequently built a shell around the existing complex (supposedly appears like a warehouse from outside, but this is just a cartographer’s excuse to stuff the map into an enclosed space so as to limit worrying about out-of-bounds glitching), with an R&D laboratory on one end (blue base) + a barracks on the other (red base); which is then further surrounded by another warehouse-shell (lore only, doesn’t exist on the BSP).
Did you watch the video? If so, and still have this opinion, then you are not a Halo fan.
Don’t care.
I’m a Halo fan because I say I am. 2004-2022. Sod off.
I’ll be honest, that video isn’t as good as the other one that was made years ago by someone else, nor is it as good as the L4D vs B4B video they made a while back.
343, hand this man all of the tools he needs to make this reality, stat.
343i already has.
Reach mod tools + a good-performance 3D modeling program means anybody can do this. The only real limitation is “how much time does one have available to wrangle these programs into cooperating utilize these programs?”
…And wrt that issue, I am not quite as lucky.
(the folder containing the Ceudar Project files getting corrupted probably didn’t help motivation either haha)
