Dude, we’re a year away from Halo 4. If there is a beta (which the existence of one has not been confirmed), it probably won’t be until late summer or early fall.

Game development is not as easy as you might think it is.

Are you kidding me? They are going to need more time up to the ship date. Even bungie had many deadline issues; all game studios do.
there will be no BETA just yet, Halo 4 isn’t released for awhile, Besides they wouldn’t just chuck out any old BETA. Time and patience my friend…Time and patience =)
I’m thinking this is about how it will correspond, esp since it’s a HUGE title and basically the last shot to bring the old Halo fans who left with Reach, back.
Game release & corresponding beta month:
Release: Sept, beta in April or May.
Release: Oct, beta in Late May-June
Release Nov, beta in June-July
Release Dec, beta also in June,July.
I dont see the public beta, if they have one, coming anytime past the 1st of August.
The Halo 3 Beta went public around 5 months before the game was released and ran for 4 weeks.
The Halo Reach Beta also went public around 5 months before the game was released and ran for less than 3 weeks.
If there’s a Beta, it wont be released for quite sometime. Given that Halo 4 has a tentative release window of Holiday 2012, it is likely that it will be released in November. We likely wont get a Beta until 5 months prior, if at all. If there is to be a Beta, we may here about it soon, but I doubt we’ll here about it until the early months of next year.
If I had to bet I would say they’re gonna have an open beta starting in July cause Frank said that if they are gonna have a beta they’re going to make it available to as many people as they can and have it in a conveinent time frame.
I want them to take their time on this game. Halo 2 would be twice as awesome if Microsoft hadn’t pushed and pushed Bungie to get it out there - older Halo fans will know what sort of stuff they had to cut from Halo 2 just to meet the release date.
I think that some kind of beta will be out around May, though later if the build is just for balance purposes (such as the Reach MP Beta).
Anyone who thinks that game development is easy and they can go to full beta phase to full release candidate in a couple of months is sorely wrong if the game will be any good on release.

July would make sense if the game is released in November. I can see that happening. If that’s the case, we probably wont know how it will be accessed until around March.
Announcement of a Beta could be for the VGAs or just standard hype trailer. I’d expect this Beta to be launched late Spring or Summer
Reach’ isn’t going to launch a Beta for Halo 4. If it did, 343 wouldn’t beat around the bush and just surprise everyone similar to ODST’s access to the Reach’s beta. Just make it a separate download and let the rest of us do the playing
lol When i first saw the title, my first response was going to be “what beta?”. I almost went in expecting the OP to start saying there’s going to a beta soon without anything proof.
