I have no idea what either thing is… someone explain?
Flinch causes your reticle to move slightly when you’re taking damage.
Descope causes you to automatically unzoom your Sniper Rifle, Battle Rifle, etc. if you’re zoomed in when taking damage.
Flinch Is This RANDOM Mechanic That 343 Implemented In This Game To Make It More RANDOM. Descoping Was A Mechanic That Was Part Of The Halo Formula But 343 Took It Out To Try And Dumb Down The Game So They Can Compete With Everyone Else Which ended Up Making Most Of The Population Rage QuIting The Game.
Personally I prefer descope but I have a question…
Didn’t the old Reach/3/2 descope have a form of flinch as well? You could never be knocked out of scope and then just fire and hit your target, hence I feel that the older games had BOTH descope and flinch or similar.

I can’t confirm that, but it wouldn’t surprise me. The “randomness” argument against flinch always missed the point I thought. Flinch simply doesn’t do its job of effectively providing a counter to scoped weapons at range.
There Was No Flinch In Those Halos. What You Were Experiencing When You Got Descoped Was Your Right Thumb Applying Pressure To Your Right Analog Stick Making It Look Like You Flinched.

that’s incorrect. I play reach and 3 more frequently than 4 now and can tell you for sure that there is nothing like flinch in previous halos.
sniping in the tower on ascension in reach a few days ago, I zoomed in on my opponents head and was quickly descoped. The opponent not having moved I fired my sniper unscoped and no scoped him across map, without ever readjusting my reticule.

I can confirm this.

Nice, thanks mate. I wasn’t sure from memory, I guess it was descope combined with the enemy moving during that split second readjustment. I’ve been sucked into championship bundle and even skipped a regular Thursday night Reach throwback night to selfishly play GC playlist
