What is everyone's take on the campaign?

The campaign is fun I like it and somwhat enjoying it but I have issues with it and kills somewhat of the excitement I had for the campaign. There will be [SPOILERS] ahead but I’m sure you guys reading this have already played parts of the campaign.

An issue which is said by many is the multiplayer unlocks in campaign are just coatings which is terrible. We have 2 different grey coatings that only change the light color from orange to blue, its horrendous.

I’m on a Series X and the intro cutscene looks amazing until it cuts to [SPOILER]…Chief fighting Banished and Atriox inside a hangar of infinity looks like it was used with Fortnite graphics. Some parts of the game look great and I’m like WOW and many times it looks like I’m playing the 2019 demo, It makes Reach look 100x better. (I’m not saying reach looks bad it actually still looks amazing for being made in 2010)

Bro Hammer complains way too much and its annoying. Again [SPOILER]…Cheif tells Bro Hammer the Banish plan to use the ring to kill everyone and he still says “we need to leave and find reinforcements” like dude there won’t be any stopping the banished if u leave them alone with the ring.

And [SPOILER]… After liberating the first outpost the weapon AI picks up a UNSC signal and Bro Hammer complains about going to it. He goes in the pelican waiting for you to enter to go to the signal. If you walk away Bro Hammer will literally complain to you and say like “You wanted me to take you to the signal and instead you just walk away!?” Its not even humorous its annoying

The weapon AI is ok but she’s just completely dumb. She’s an AI, she needs to be smart. Not lack intelligence, [SPOILER]… Chief and the Weapon stumble upon a fragment of the index cortana had. Since its only a fragment and not the full index Cheif questions and asks the Weapon “Do we need it?” and the weapon replies “Do the banish need it?” Like what response is that!? Why not just say “Yes, we need it”.

Apparently the weapon an AI can smell the Banish through chiefs armor!? Even chief questioned that when that dialogue popped up.

Wish halo was still rated M because it being rated T to cater and bring in kids has made characters who aren’t the main ones dumb.

And yes I know Halo Wars 1 and 2 were rated T but at least the characters in them had intelligence and weren’t weird. Serina an AI actually was a smart AI and Isabelle was smart too but it was weird that a Logistics AI like her had human emotions.

And ik some people are going to be like " you need to appreciate what 343 has done" and I do up to some certain extent because Infinite is not the best Halo game so far in years. This half baked game still needs more work to be done.

The fact that they had the side characters be the main antagonists just sucked I wanted to play the story with Cortana and Atriox as the antagonists. Honestly aside from the funny dialogue it was just a disappointment IMO.

Phenomenal. Each level is designed to accommodate any kind of playstyle, enemies have been updated with new and unique combat dances, every weapon is a blast to use.

I was concerned that the idea of incorporating Far Cry’s formula into Halo would result in a very hollow experience but the open world is genuinely fun to explore. You’re never forced to grind the side quests and the linear story takes center stage. All of the indoor segments flawlessly pay homage to legacy Halo and the open world in between feels like Halo’s dynamic sandbox stripped of its original limitations.

Rather than going for an ambitious or complex narrative like Halo 2 or 5, the story is kept simple and does its job. Chief is stranded on a foreign world, aliens threaten humanity, Chief has -Yoink!- to kick. I would say its easily the best campaign since Halo 3.

Only issues for me are poor optimization and forced temporal anti-aliasing. Seriously remove that garbage.

Just found out I can’t leave the area I’m “assigned” to. I just wanted to go full RPG mode and explore the world, do all the side quests, max my gear, and THEN do the main objectives. If you try to jump across the ravine to another area, even when it shows you can mark a FOB over there, even when you’re safely on the ground in that zone, it gives you the RETURN TO BATTLEFIELD [9] [8] [7] etc countdown. So much for being an open world to explore. It’s scripted and it sucks.

343 have been very, very specific in never calling it an open world. Fans in their excitement choose to label it an open world, but 343 themselves have specifically said it’s NOT an open world. You gotta blame yourself for that one bud.

I play on PC and the campaign crashed on me twice and seriously suffers from technical issues. The lack of customization after paying a $60 premium price tag is infuriating, the inability to replay levels is annoying, the fact that only some collectibles show up on the TacMap is eyerolling, and the reuse of environments and assets is depressing.

With that said, I still get that feeling of being an awesome supersoldier that I haven’t felt since I was a teenager. That sense that, through both enemy chatter and friendly dialogue, I can accomplish anything no matter how many times I die is invigorating. This game FEELS like Halo, it SOUNDS like Halo, and it PLAYS like Halo. I just wish they could make it LOOK like Halo with diverse biomes, environments, improved technical issues, better graphics, etc.

But thankfully(?) in this day and age all of my complaints could easily be patched in. I don’t feel like this game is truly finished, campaign or multiplayer, but it has nailed the hardest part of any game (being fun) and with a few months it might be one of gaming’s classics.

I am at the beggining and I like it a lot.
Sure I am not happy that I cant replay missions so I missed first two skulls instantly… :frowning:

But other than that it is really fun so far.

The only thing that changed recently was the release of the campaign, now my Halo MP wont load and I cannot slay.

My take is that it is broken the online multiplayer element, I do not care for the campaign at the moment, so on that basis and my selfish view.

It sucks.

Entire experience is cheapened by horrible optimization.
Otherwise, actually a nice campaign. It has a mix of a classic Halo with levels and ODST with a hub world.
World is big enough that you can have so much fun grappling, but not so big that you basically need to fast travel all the time.

Could use more PoIs and easter eggs tho.

She asked if the banished need it rhetorically.

But yeah the campaign felt patchy and rewritten in places and then they stitched together what they’d already got.

Overall fun to play, but the conclusion of H5 story was highly underwhelming for me and felt very rise of Skywalker level of shoehorned story elements.

Yea, it felt better than H5 but then again you are comparing it to the trash which is H5.
H5 is undoubtly the worst mainline Halo game and it ruined everything for Halo.

It’s easily better than Halo 4 and 5. It has excellent gameplay, and a much better art style and tone than the previous two games. The open world is fun as a sandbox, the concept itself just leads to shallow and repetitive gameplay (that’s how I feel about FarCry as well). I haven’t finished it yet but the story seems decent enough and the story missions are great. It has a lot of excellent attention to detail, as well.

Overall very solid but definitely not perfect.

Well at present since My plan is to grab it during or after christmas… NOTHING

i had the same problem, did you manually update the MP?

Get out lmao. This game is honestly great. Art style is finally on point and it feels like halo 2 and 3 combined

It has way too much “padding”, every boss fight except 3 of them felt like they were forced into the story to make it seem longer. Every boss fight felt the same, keep distance and pepper it with bullets till it died some 10+ minutes later if it didn’t one-hit you back to the last check point. There were only three boss fights out of, I think 8 or 9 that had varying mechanics and stages to them the rest were copy, paste and generic AF.

same with the open world parts and the weapon balancing as well, I cant fly a wasp one minute without either a banshee spawning in and wrecking me, or getting shot down by a shock rifle from like 500 yds away. Even the new shotty, the bulldog felt like it was made “weak” to extend the play time,. Add in that we can no longer back smack anything stronger than a grunt it made my style of gameplay quite painful.

You must be the kind of kid that likes Fortnite and apex legends. This halo is a kids game in line with those same goofy cringe games.

Phenominal so far.
The gameplay is fun and varied. Missions are believable as you are scattered forces having to regroup while sabotaging enemy outposts and assassinating HVTs between the actual story progression missions.

On that we can agree the art is like epic and some of the structures even gave me the chills to walk through.

Check my account and weep because I’m an old -Yoink!- boomer m8 with stats going all the way back to halo 2. Anyways atop projecting and go play your warzone pass
