Also what is a UNSC clan in general? As in what is the difference between being a spartan 2, a marine or and ODST? I"m sure it relates to the story line, i’ve just never followed it much.
I’ve always just played live and recently actually started following the story line.
So what does that mean if i join an ODST clan vs joining a Spartan 2? Also what does it mean if i join a military based clan vs a UNSC clan?
Before, i always just pictured clans as ways to team up and have a good team on 4v4 rather than get paired up with crappy players.
Any info helps, thanks.
A UNSC clan wears UNSC tags while military clans are usually Insurrectionists. Ranks such as ODST and SII are given to the higher skilled players while Marine is basically the recruit. And clans on Halo are usually made up of underage kids or adults that really have no social life.
Military follow (usually) the American military armed forces. Navy AirForce etc. UNSC follows the halo side odst Spartan etc. The difference is really just the community imo. Military based can do other stuff too like have a knight clan or whatever. That’s the gist I guess. Main difference like I said is really just the type of players and how things are run

You’ll meet plenty of crappy clan kids. If you want a clan go for one with a competitive focus or one that focuses on making it’s members better.
UNSC clans such as Navcom, UNSC Infinity, Defcom, always follow a UNSC structure and theme. Marines are their main branch whereas ODST or SIVs are more specialized… You will always wear a set armor, emblem and service tag which depends on branch. However SIIs or ODSTs often have some sort of “conscription” which IMO are filled to the brim with pointless stuff, but different clans handle it differently. Still, many ODSTs and Spartans are bad players, but good ones also exist.
Military clans vary, but are more free sometimes (like less restrictive uniforms) and aren’t always insurrection based. However like UNSC clans they often have a heavy role play element. However hybrid clans like Invictus focus on both military and competitive, the latter becoming a bigger focus in many clans. However their structure varies a bit depending on the clan. Some clans like Orta have a huge focus on the military element. Clans who are pure military tend to be bad.
The “roleplay” element can be fun in certain amounts but many do take it too far.
Impulse thanks for the description and yea people do take the roleplay way too far, that’s why when I think of a clan, I think it’s purpose should just be to team up with players on live and have a better fire team rather than get matched up with random players, that’s what a clan is to me
Military is such a loose term, because its halo, so pretty much every clan is military. But clans that say they’re “military clans” or usually some random “insurrection” clan while unsc ones will call themselves unsc. But to me it sounds like your looking for a relaxed halo clan that just plays the game (there is none) just join some halo club on Xbox if you’re looking to chill.
As a former member of two military clans, I strongly recommend avoiding them like the plague.
Military clans are boring as hell, the uniforms, emblems, and service tags look like -Yoink-, the meetings last for an eternity (hours even), and the supposed premise of becoming a “cohesive fighting force” is simply fortune cookie nonsense. Even worse, there are far too many power struggles within leadership, which may cause the whole group to split apart into similar groups. And then it repeats itself.
I’d say you’d be much better off in a competitive company than some sad attempt to induce discipline upon yourself and others. Heck, I’d go as far as saying that even Allegiance seems more enticing than some generic military clan of sorts.

So basically a Spartan Company? Though the line between them is thin, I’ve seen clans that have Spartan Companies and Spartan Companies that form into clans.
But from the sounds of it, what you want is a Spartan Company that’s more relaxed and just interested in playing the game. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Halo tends to follow standard military rankings and procedures so who ever makes these “clans” aren’t exactly accurate.

You could say in a way. SCs are just reskinned clans. Mind you Halo clans used to be different then what they are today.
What you want in a clan depends on what you are looking for. But from personal experience find a clan/SC where the leader gets to know you and tries to be your friend rather than viewing you as an expendable, easily replaceable member. You’ll make friends, encounter less frustration and should have fun.

What type of -Yoink!- -Yoink- is this?

No it is. They are basically the same

My point is that these “clans” are not very accurate when it comes to requirements and time for obvious reasons, and a lot of times they will leave out some rankings takes deep breath like Specialist cringes (I love my brothers no matter the rank lol)
I miss the days when playing with a group of friends wasn’t so complicated to people

A: I should have worded it better. I did not imply the clans listed were bad. If I did, then I’ll update the post.
B: Yes it’s true that very often ODSTs/Spartans are bad, and that in order to become one you must often perform some form of “training.” Often to my current knowledge, useless. If that offends you, I can’t do anything to fix that. I’d rather not waste three hours on a parkour course. You do you however.
C: Been in UNSC clans before. Their uniforms cover all fields.

Pretty accurate description of working a job in real-life too, actually, by coincidence.
I think that was probably the biggest issue I had with the clans I was part of (well that, and the fact that I knew more lore than even the leaders, so when they’d start going off on the “history” of the series I’d correct them and it went downhill from there but I digress).
Not sure about exact differences but I know as soon as the clan starts forcing rules that take the fun out of the game and make it feel more like a job, I’m out lol I like companies who are all about acceptance and just having fun with people (like mine).

Eh I don’t mind it’s just a group of kids guys teens etc whatever having fun. One doesn’t need to be in a clan to enjoy a group. It just gives them something in common I guess. And eh timing can’t happen no one is going to wait a year to get promoted lol. Plus specialist is army. Most clans don’t have an army branch (usually). I see your point though

No one wants a Specialist lol
