i looked at my kd today and it 1.45 and i was woundering what the average kd is and whats good
It’s most likely around 1.0 since for every kill someone gets, someone must die. Betrayals and suicides can affect this slightly though.
What is ‘good’ is very subjective. I’m happy with 1.5+ but some people are happy with 1.0+ and others say 1.8-2.0+ is good.
Average? 1
Good average? Anything above 1 is pretty good. I strive to keep it at 1.25.
Around 1 is average, but honestly, when I see people with 1, 1.5 K/Ds I don’t really see them as much of a threat.
It depends on what you mean by “good”.
1.0. Which I believe is a good one. As long as you’re positive, I’d consider your K/D good.
You’ll be hard pressed to find an average k/d due to the different skill and play styles of the Halo community. Some prefer to rush headfirst into battle which may effectively lower their k/d ratio. Others prefer to sit back and kill from a distance having the opposite effect. Also, an average k/d ratio would only be relevant if all players were only dedicated to only one playlist. Some playlists will considerably boost your k/d ratio while others will considerably lower it by nature of the gametype. Grifball comes to mind in this regard. That being said, I have a 1.5 now whereas I had a 1.2 about 2 months ago and only got the 1.5 after a prolonged period of not playing Halo for about just over a month. It’s just relevant to who the player is and how they feel they are capable of performing compared to the rest of the gaming community.
Only one way to know what an average KD is…have 343i do a data mine on the stats and average out the total KDs.
As to what is good, is very difficult.
Someone might only play BTIS only…nothing else and snipe and get kills from long distance, never venturing into the fray…is their 4.29 KD good? (IMO, not really)
Someone might only ever play SWAT and nothing else and have say a 3.4 KD…are they good? (At SWAT, yes, but overall, their KD is meaningless)
Or, someone might play objective game types and instead of stat padding, play the objectives and might have a negative KD but, their team wins the majority of their games. Is their negative KD good? (On face value no but, the player is good!)
Then, you might have someone who plays all play lists and game modes. Their KD overall might be 1.26. However, in objective game modes they have a negative KD for individual lists due to playing the objective and not stat padding. Also, in Slayer game modes, they have a good positive KD, say 1.7 where more kills than deaths count. Is the 1.2 KD good? (In perspective of what they play etc and how, yes.) That is a well rounded, well balanced player and best answers your questions.
IMO, though, KD does not matter at all. I prefer the results at the end of each and every match…that is what counts.
It depends, are you talking about your Halo Waypoint career K/D (mine is currently 1.58) or your Wargames Overview? (mine is currently 1.42)

In agreement with what Squall says, you can look up your K/D ratios by Gametype and Map. Each map has a K/D and yours will be different on each one. And they WILL be different based on the game and your playstyle.
judging by almost every single teammate i have ever had in halo 4, i am willing to be the actual number is about 0.50

True, but K/D is a personal performance marker. Anyone can get a good idea of what kind of player someone is just by looking up the stats in the gametype and then by the maps.
I’ll get in some fist action in smaller maps and have more kill ratios with a vehicle in others, that doesn’t make me a camper, just a more situation-oriented player.
I’ve got a 2.20 K/D, but here’s my grading on K/D
0.99 K/D or below is Unsatisfactory
1.00 K/D or higher is Average
1.30 K/D or higher is Above Average.
No worries, this isn’t school

Fair points…I am unable to disagree!
I’ve got a 1.53 with 1 day, 1 hour and 49 minutes. I plan to get it higher. Battle rifle all the way, son!
yeah i suck at griffball so i dont play it often when i say suck i go like 5-20 against lower levels i dont know what my deal is with sswords and hammers
I’ve played less and scored higher than you.
Something else to consider is if people consistently play in groups or not. If you always with a team of 3 others then not having a K/D > 1.2 would be pretty bad as you would have all the opportunity to position properly, devise a strategy, etc. Likewise playing only as a lone wolf and having a K/D higher than 1.2 is pretty good because you lose a lot of coordination and thus are more likely to die.
Just from recent experience (right after CSR came out) I have noticed a massive increase in people playing in teams. So likely playing solo is only going to get harder to maintain a high K/D.

I’ve got most of mine while playing alone. I usually get my -Yoink- handed to me when I’m facing a group of friends. But when everyone is a stranger, I excel!!!11

Sir,you are virtual proof that claims about the DMR are over exaggerated. Thank you for proving the BR is alive and well!

Go get 'em!

Not true, CSR is an overall broken system and doesn’t actually effect the game much (there are plenty of threads to back this up just go back a few pages to see)
I have not seen any evidence to suggest that a CSR-based matchup would result in a bad K/D (or personal performance) ratio.
